Thanks Melanie...this is one of those that works for some, not quite as much for others. |

Thanks, Jack...glad it 'grew' on you! I admit, I'm on the ragged edge, pardon the pun, with the brightness...but I like it. |

Hi Emil,
Yes, agree...cemeteries offer some spectacular subject matter. One of my very first IR images that did well in competition was taken at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. It's full of interesting compositions and structures. You've done very well with this and kept the post-processing simple and effective. Just for fun, I added Color Efex Pro's Darken/Lighten Center with low opacity in the corners but placed the center spot just above the roof of the large mausoleum. See if you think it adds to the scene. It does seem to bring down the front grasses to my eye. |

Hi Palli,
One of your best to date, sir! VERY well done in all regards. I like the horizontal crop and your entire composition. Your standard Color Efex Pro techniques are most appreciated and raise the impact in my view. |

Hi Charles,
SO novel and fresh! It has impact and as Arik said, sure gets your attention. Nicely done. You've given me an idea or two! |

May your travels and seeing continue, Jack! I have never been to the Petrified Forest NP. This is just wonderfully seen by you, and infrared is a fantastic medium with those clouds. We often differ on our view of the IR world when it comes to contrast, brightness, whites and blacks, but just the same I attach my version for yet another approach. I solved the hot spot with a graduated neutral density filter, applied after rotating the image 180 degrees so I could also darken the rock formations. Detail Extractor from Color Efex Pro added some drama to the clouds, then I selectively lightened parts of them and the foreground road. What do you think of Option B?! |

Greetings, Arik!
Can I just say...this is truly Ansel-esque! Brilliant in all regards. Seeing the composition and then bringing it to life in post-processing was very well done. This is Fine Art infrared, which I understand you to be a teacher and advocate of same. |

Hi Melanie,
It's often photographed, but you've added drama and impact with this one of the mittens. I like it...as is...without adjustment!

Thanks Palli,
I wavered on it all, but decided the addition of Detail Extractor to that white background gave me enough detail. The whole image post-processing was an experiment, as it had never been worked up before. That's what I'm finding about the older files...many of the individual frames were glanced at but never 'brought to life'. I will stay with this one as it is, but sure value your opinion. |

Thank you Arik. Your comments were most affirming. I must admit to trying new things here with an older image. I had never processed it before, so just decided to make it an adventure. As you can see, Palli would have preferred more detail, but I respect all views on this. |
