Hi Jack,
It's all been said. I really like this intimate, close-up scene of the forest floor, and in my view infrared really makes it something special and unique. |

Hi Charles,
I hope all of us sign on again and see your fine work...it wasn't there when I first signed on 2/1. The composition sure works for me, and infrared is a great medium for this scene. I offer you a more panoramic composition...the large amount of foreground white is a bit of a distraction to me in getting to the bridge and woods. Also, I selected and applied Detail Extractor from DxO NIK to the trees. Lastly, I removed the warm color cast that seemed to be evident in the image and took it to complete black and white with the Channel Mixer and Levels. See what you think of my version. |

Wow, Melanie...that background you've created is stunning. How it makes the composition into art work instead of recording in infrared. Look at this adjusted version from yours truly...I am not saying it's better...just another view of the world. I do think that maybe less is more with some cropping, but it's so subjective. I darkened the corners and blurred all but the center in my square version. See what you think. |

Greetings Emil,
I have a bias to black & white, even though I stretched myself and submitted a color IR this round. This is very nicely done. Silver Efex Pro did the trick. Except for a few little dust spots in the sky area, this indeed is one from the 'good ole Midwest'. The hay roll and tree really add value to the overall composition. |

VERY nice, Palli...the structure is fascinating. Look at just one more view of it from my perspective. I used a mild vignette around the edges, cropped the sky and foreground and removed the turn arrows in the road in front. Lastly, I masked the building and added some 'lens blur sharpening' from Photoshop. Except for the turn arrows, your version is absolutely fine, but I just wanted to give you another idea. |

Arik...
Bravo! What a scene...the clouds make it, plus your post-processing and keystone correction. Would you have a look at a version I produced...simply masked all but the sky, then applied Nik Color Efex Pro Detail Extractor. You know by now, I like boldness and contrast in black and white IR. I also lightened the light pole slightly, which you composed perfectly between the window and door to eliminate the merge. |

Thank you very much Arik...
Couldn't agree more with you...the possibilities with this scene and color IR are literally endless. As soon as I'd posted this and saw it side by side, I said to myself, "heh, the original version isn't bad!", just as you noted. I guess this is why digital photography is so fantastic...we get to truly be artists. If this was a color slide, it's one-and-done until it's scanned! |
