Hi Emil,
Glad you watched Rad's webinar...he is from Indianapolis and is a good friend. This composition and post-processing really works for me. At first I wondered about contrast, but I wouldn't want contrast to spoil the wonderful reflections in the water. It's filled with mood and a story...well done. |

Charles,
Not surprisingly, this is MY kind of IR image...wonderfully executed in my opinion. Removing the background adds to the magic. I see this as a competition image without hesitation, and I think the crop to square is spot on. I'm ok with the arch in the center, since it's at the top of the image. |

Hi Jack,
My very first reaction...why the sepia toning for the whole of the image, but the trees boldly standing out in pure white? That was a distraction for me. I took your own suggestion of a pano and cropped from the top, took it back to all monochrome using Silver Efex Pro, added a mask of Detail Extractor from Color Efex Pro to the sky and ended up with the attached. It's another version...does it improve the scene? You are the photographer! |

Hi Ernie,
I think your post-processing is spot on...well done. You have bold blacks and clear whites. The veining of the rocks offers a very nice leading line into the hoodoo. Oh that you could have had a bit more 'puffies' in the sky...on the other hand, the boldness of the black sky puts full emphasis on the structure. This would be one to print and enter in competition in my view. |

Bravo, I say! Keep experimenting with Color IR...it's a good challenge and a good goal. You will learn new techniques on your way to improving and making more images with impact. This one is simply too muted and pale for my liking, and you have said it well...it's too much like a conventional capture that has been post-processed a bit to alter the colors. |
