Hi Antje,
Well seen! I'd like the background down slightly in terms of brightness, and maybe the Darken/Lighten Center preset in NIK Color Efex Pro would do just that. Also, I wonder if playing with the Channel Mixer sliders from the original version might offer you another rendition of this in COLOR?! |

Greetings, Ernie...
Some might offer all kinds of advice, crop this, lighten that, darken the other...but I am attracted to this image precisely as it's presented to me. Well done...I personally wouldn't do a thing to this apart from printing it and/or entering it in a digital image exhibition somewhere! Now, if you really, really wanted a little feedback on making it even better...which you don't need to do imho...try lightening the grasses ever so slightly to get them more to pure white. |

Thank you, Palli. Sometimes "less is more" in image-making I find. This has very, very little done to it as you can see from the original, but just a few bits of post-processing seem to add greatly to the impact of the image. I haven't tried this in print exhibitions and may give it a go and see what happens. |

Hi Palli,
What a tranquil scene...complete with foreground, mid-ground and background! I like the feeling of serenity and peace that the image conveys to me. I would like to see less texture/noise in the foreground decking wood, and I wonder if you should mask this area of the image and apply Detail Extractor to only the tree line and clouds? |

Hi Melanie...
Beautiful composition and subject. This is pictorial landscape at its very best. I'm surprised at your settings---1/2000th seems very high for IR at ISO 400 and f9? The ghosting is a mystery to me, but I agree it's a clear distraction at the end of the fencing. Try cloning an adjacent rail to complete the one at the end that looks 'ghosted'. |

Hi Jack,
Love it! I mean that...what an artistic view that would NEVER be seen of the Palouse save for your use of Infrared. I did TWO simple things to this image that I feel adds value to the view. Didn't change the composition one iota. What I DID do was apply Detail Extractor from NIK at 30%. Second, I used the black eye dropper in Levels and picked a very dark, but not completely black, part of the roadway in front, clicked on it, and deepened the blacks in the scene overall. There are numerous ways to do this of course. See if you like what Detail Extractor did to the definition of the rolling hills near the horizon line AND the detail in the clouds. This image should be exhibited early and often in my humble opinion! |
