Greetings, Palli...
I like the twisted trunk compositionally for its simplicity are artful appearance. Here's a version with the addition of NIK Detail Extractor, Darken/Lighten Center and a dash of added contrast. See what you think.

Greetings, Melanie,
What a gorgeous scene! I think the IRHDR worked nicely and to your advantage. My only critique of the scene is time of day...you had a great deal of the foliage in shade, and the composition would have been much bolder and stronger in my view had that vegetation been illuminated by the sun. This would be a great scene for "high noon" when we generally say photography is taboo. |

Hi Jack,
I too was drawn to the speckled light on the path. IR worked so very well for this image. I have nothing to suggest--a very beautiful and artful scene. |

Hi Antje,
You took it with intent and pre-visualized the result...well done to do so.
This will such a subjective comment...for my eye, the pink with the balance of the image being monochromatic just doesn't visually work. The pink foliage actually comes across to me as a portion of the IR original file in which you didn't have the white balance set to 'custom'. |

Hi Ernie...
ART! I mean that. I really like the vision you have displayed here. Very unusual way to portray the Palouse from the normal. Well done. Two things I tried...totally subjective treatments...1) Used Detail Extractor in NIK Color Efex Pro to give a bit more delineation of the shadow areas along with Darken/Lighten Center to burn corners and 2) took out the foreground grasses, which to my eye weren't adding value to the composition. The mood of this image is superior! |
