Thanks Antje...
I printed this 12x18 on fibre-based Epson matte paper and the digital noise or grain looks acceptable. I wonder if the smallish sizes we need to submit for our DDG somewhat exaggerate the imperfections. I do like what you've done to soften this one. |

Hi Palli,
As I said to Melanie, I was at a PSA board meeting last week and am late to the game! I didn't read the other comments first, but I congratulate you on the title...perfectly ties in to what you have presented. Having said that, the wire fencing for my eye, is simply too much of a distraction and a confusion. Oh, that you could be on a step ladder 5 feet to the left and looking over the fence. Of course, a new title would then we necessary! |

Hi Melanie,
I was at PSA board last week and didn't chime in early enough. I didn't read the other comments, but I DID look at your revised image you spent time re-processing. I really like what you've done. Personally, as a street scene, I was ok with the lines and wires, but your attention to detail and the tedious processing has paid off in my view!!! |

Hi Jack,
I really like the concept here, and IR serves you well. I'm not sure, however, if this is an image about the vines, the clouds, or both. I think it's the latter, and if so, I have masked the clouds and applied Detail Extractor to them and masked the vines so set a strong White point in Levels. I also lighted the grasses between the rows. You have many tones to deal with here, and you have many options. This is just one person's view of the scene. |

Hi Antje...
This is a superb place/subject in which to employ the IR medium! Well seen. I think the composition is a bit too much 50/50 with foreground and background for my liking, and I also want a strong white point in the foliage, even if the Histogram is spiked on the right a bit.
Here's my rendition for what it's worth. I also removed some highlights I found distracting in the upper r.h. side of the image. |

Ernie...
I like it very, very much...know exactly where this is in Zion and wished I'd stopped and shot it in IR after seeing your version. This is the epitome of the wonderful effects of IR in my opinion. Congratulations. The clouds are a valued asset to the composition as they add a sense of place. Without them, the image almost looks a bit contrived. |
