I have opened both my adjusted image and Craig's. It's wonderful to have each of us subjectively offer our thoughts in my view. Both images improve on the original in my opinion, with the preferred version very much just that...a preference by the maker! |

Hi Palli,
A true representation of "freedom" in my view. I appreciate the location of the dog with room to walk more into the frame. The toning adds a touch of tranquility in my view. What I feel would enhance the image is setting a stronger Black point, and I did so in the adjusted image by choosing Levels and clicking the Black eyedropper on the underbelly of the pup. I then used Nik Color Efex Pro, Lighten/Darken Center, to accentuate the animal in the scene a bit more. See if you feel it's a stronger image or not... |

Melanie,
What a tranquil view! IR has enhanced this image in my opinion. What I'm missing is contrast and a white point in the foreground lichen, so I masked the bottom third, adjusted Levels here to get a true white, added contrast to the lower third, then darkened the corners all around with Nik Darken/Lighten Center in Color Efex Pro. See if you find this version to have greater visual impact. |

Hi Jack,
You've sure succeeded on both exposure and on the composition from my frame of reference. I've driven this part of Nevada, and the emptiness is well depicted by your capture. I feel it's missing one thing...a stronger black point. I went to Levels, chose the black eye dropper, and clicked into a segment of dark sky in the upper right 1/3rd of the composition. See if you like the drama that comes from a bold black, bold white. |

Craig,
This scene has great mood in my view and so accurately depicts the chill and the feeling of a Yellowstone Winter. I wonder how/if IR has enhanced this scene and why it really needed to be used, given the snow was white and there was no green foliage? It could have been made with a regular digital capture, but you had your IR camera in hand, so why not! |
