Palli,
I like it! There are always minor things that one could suggest changing, but I consider those subjective and not necessarily adding value to the scene. For my eye, it works as it is. I would only say that from the standpoint of strong impact, i.e. a novel view of the world, it's more along the normal rather than the extraordinary. And, I further say...So what...especially if you are very pleased with it! |

Craig,
Well seen. You don't want to make this a black and white IR in my view...too many great tones and contrasts in colors. I do like Nathan's version as well. What I feel the image needs is more depth and a bolder statement, so I added the Darken/Lighten filter from NIK Color Efex Pro and also Detail Extractor. See if you find this version conveying a great overall impact...or not. |

Hi Jack,
What a mood...and what a great application of IR. Well done. For me, the image is out of balance with the large mass of tree on the right and only a leafless tree on the left. I masked off the sky area and added Detail Extractor in Nik Color Efex Pro to this scene, and the added detail in the sky adds a dimension that I feel also adds to the balance. It's not about contrast per se, I think it's about the scene as originally presented to us being too "heavy" on the right. |

Melanie...what a fascinating abstract. It SHOULD puzzle us all...that's what abstracts are all about. It is unique and very striking in my view. Having said that, the little specs in the back of the sculpture distract me and need to be removed I feel. Also, the background is so light, and it's very noisy. See the adjusted version I worked up in Nik and see if you feel it adds value to the image. I'm not sure IR is value added here, but you never know until you try it. |

Nathan, what an usual scene...and the rendering in color IR is really intriguing. I DO like the "new and improved" version you uploaded after Palli's comment. The whole impression given in this image is unique and quite impressive to my eye. |

Very kind Palli...I just thought the right elements were present for the use of IR, and fortunately I was there to photograph them. |
