66 Jun 17 Reply Thank you Palli...here's a good example of bright, contrast sun working well for our use of IR. Jun 16th
66 Jun 17 Reply Thanks Jack, feedback is always welcomed. I don't see land at the top, do you mean I should crop some of the foreground land? Thanks, Gary Jun 16th
66 Jun 17 Comment Superb, Palli! I note your black blacks and white whites. Well done. I have no suggestions to improve this impressive capture.

Some might say the dock/pagoda is nearly dead center, but I'd consider that an old, hackneyed rule...and IF you broke it with this image, so be it...good for you!

66 Jun 17 Comment I really like the concept Melanie, and the composition is great in my view with cropping not needed.

I like what you're doing with the tree and lightening it, but be careful as there is some lightening of the ground around it that looks a bit false to my eye. Also, with IR, I feel it's imperative to have a real white point in Levels, and I'm not sure you have one with the whites of the tree.

66 Jun 17 Comment Hi Jack and welcome to the group...my first thought was that the image needed contrast and a more pure white point. The more I look at it, I'm not sure. In the current state, it carries a mood, but there's no real white point in your Levels setting. Adjusting levels and giving it a tweek of Curves yields the attached adjusted image. Your call on which you prefer as the maker. The scene, the composition, the use of IR...are all superb in my opinion. Jun 12th
66 Jun 17 Comment Nathan,

I like it! Very creative. The idea of a color capture in IR, then reduction of color, addition of the border, then re-coloring the main subjects is in my view novel and fresh. I think you may have lost a bit of critical sharpness in the process, plus you've cropped fairly significantly. I'd be interested to hear how this image fares in competition. Why not try the Individual Creative Competition this month?
