Well Done. Howwwwwling good shot on one of my favourite North American critters.
On a canoe trip down the MacKenzie River NWT...... we heard them.. saw tracks, scat but never the real thing. I like the capture of emergence !!! I can see the benefit of the cropping but it is moment and sense of movement; the lifted paw, with splash and the intent focus that really sets the excitement of the photo. The trees to the left adds the element of bursting from a deep forest so I vote for the original
Cracking shot for me

Again eyes are amazing the dark red is great . Sharp Clear, both back grounds and the shooting angle perspective highlight the bird. I like it!!!! |

Your processing skills are a force of creation! and inspiration.... Well done
The darkening of the back ground highlights the fungi. Any idea which one it is??
I like the Shadow on the lower segment. Neato |

I agree with the previous comments on proximity and fuzziness. Mervyn's point about specks in the distance is very true. The times I have seen M Goats is up on something impossible to climb and at distance. A a big yes to blasting out the rock
cheers. great capture |

The eyes have it !! I agree with comments about the reflective issues. Maybe good to set a hide up if herons are seen potential for nature interaction?? ...(not that I have a thing against frogs). I recall watching a BITTERN capture and consumption a huge Bullfrog at Nisqually NWR near Olympia years ago. Fascinating to watch also no camera.
Good Work |

Thanks for the comments and feedback
Firstly Equipment D850 with Tamron 70-200mm 200mm @f13 1/00 sec ISO I cant recall exactly (exposure program 1) so 400 ir was a bright day and while that highlights the colors it made the the exposure difficult. it was hand held and I spent a while waiting for the bird to "eat it's " way out of the Kowhai. I will push back on the naked branch as it was the one the bird had just stripped of leaves. I think the D850 is a bit more camera than I can effectively handle at this point in my journey. I have a lot to learn about it. It is amazing but unforgiving . Cheers guys
