Great Depth Merv's comment of nearly 3D was my first impact. The canyon landscape is not a common feature in NZ. Dimming the brightness does reduce the distraction of the bright light formation in the foreground and balances the tones.

I agree with the closer cropping. The photo does grasp what the Lynx would want to be...... out of sight. The highlighting of the Lynx would make it easier to see. What a great capture. |

This can be a dangerous position with BGH!!! I recall walking in to a rookery when I lived in Newport Oregon. I wore a rain coat!!. The feathers and curves of the wings gives a sense of floating but control. Aerial Grace !! Nice Candy . |

WOW could be a great Christmas Card !! I agree the filtered change brings out the Cardinal but does not lose the mystery of the mist

It is a great story and with my recent trip to Stewart Island wish there were more mammals than wild cats and possums (bush-tailed)
I agree with Candy the second shot does give some action
Beach shots often have the subtle tone
