I think you've made some subtle changes that help your image. It's so wild...like a creature in Star Wars. It's so different, its difficult to discern the best way to go with it, but I think its a wild and wonderful creation. Great eye to see this. |

I prefer it without the vignette. Just personal taste. It's an exceptional image! |

Thanks. I thought it lost some of its interest without the saturation, but we'll see what everyone else likes. And you like it facing to the right, correct? |

I've added another version where I desaturated the colors. Do you like it better? Thanks! |

I substantially desaturated the yellows, oranges, reds and blues. I don't think it really dropped the saturation level a lot.
Like it better? |

I appreciate your thoughts, Sunil. Everyone thought the saturation was too much, so I'll drop it and repost soon. Thanks! |

Thanks so much, Robert. I'll redo with the orange down a bit. The train was moving, but its an old team train, so it was going slow and it was really windy. In many of my sunset pix, there is no steam at all, as it kind of blew off right away. I considered moving the smoke, but I thought the straight up added interest. |

Thanks for the info, Jean! Yes, I'd forgotten that traditional Chinese in Taiwan and Hong Kong is Right-to-Left. As I understand it, Modern Chinese switched, and went to bottom-to-top to top-to-bottom. That must have been extremely difficult to switch an entire population. And old signs and documents are still the old way, making it more confusing. I'm happy to think of Taiwan still reading in an ancient style. |

Jean, at one point, I had a DD78 member from Saudi Arabia and one from Israel. Both of those countries read right to left. Actually, 10% of the world read right to left--most of the Middle East and parts of Africa. So I have found value in putting my images "backwards". Especially since the steam train is 106 years old and is an old and backwards technology. But I've attached the train is going the other way. Robert will appreciate your request--he is also a fan of right-facing compositions. |

I think Jean really summed it up beautifully. I LOVE it! So simple and interesting and CRISP. Bravo for wandering around in the cold and do focus stacking! |

Pei-Fan, these both look the same to me. I double-checked that I downloaded them correctly. I would like to see the exposure dropped and some clarity to really help pop the image.
You might consider removing the people walking on the right side and the leaves in the water, as well as a few other distractions. |

Really different and interesting. It does look like a character in Star Wars! I might go with a title that played on the Sci-Fi movie as opposed to the dawn.
The dawn color almost feels like sunset to me, maybe its a bit saturated? But I know the lighting in the desert can be really vivid.
I might use a thin brush and lighten a few tiny highlights on the limb to bring our eye more to the twisting and less on the sunrise. |

Once again, I can't believe you created this image from your plain image! Well done, super interesting.
I'd be tempted to darken a bit more of the stones with a bit of contrast, but you are the guru of monochrome. |

I love how you took three simple images and turned them into such a dynamic triptych. Given that you did this 12 years ago, I am even more impressed, as there was so much less available to create cool monochrome images.
I don't have any suggestions, I really liked the grainy (or maybe its the canvas) texture.
Well done! |

I think the monochrome version is very powerful. The low angle and the tall "roof" are very interesting. I don't think I would pick up on the back story, but it does feel like a sanctuary in nature. Your wife's positioning adds a lot to the story. |
