I think your new crop is much more successful! We have the vivid fruit and then the almost plain people rushing by. The only other tweek I would recommend is removing the hanging box? on the top right, just above the yellow fruit.
Well done! |

I've updated my bear.
I cropped up the grass as suggested by Jim.
I sharpened the grass, as suggested by Ed.
I used NIK for more contrast, as Sunil suggested.
Robert inspired the title of "Menacing Bear". I also sharpened the fur, as Robert suggested.
I kept the shining eyes that Pei-Fan pointed out.
I blurred the background even more, as JoAnn mentioned that as something she liked in the original image.
I did darken the bear fur but added some dodging with a brush to create more rim lighting and contrast.
I darkened the background and grass to make it more contrasty and mysterious.
The bear has a lot of noise. I reduced it a little, but it flattened him quite a bit. Happily its a furry bear and a gritty image, so I'm hoping it will be okay.
I'd love everyone's thoughts. |

Very good point, Pei-Fan. I agree that the tree trunk is annoying. |

Thanks for the compliment, Jim! I like the bottom crop idea! It will appear in my rework! Just waiting on everyone's comments, so I can incorporate everything in my rework. |

Robert, I appreciate the better title and the idea of getting his fur in better focus. Thanks!

Nice eye to see those bright, beautiful fruits. I took 41 seconds (I timed it) to quickly remove most of the people and crop down to make the scene the fruit and the two people deeper in the scene to give you another idea of what Robert mentioned in his comments.
I do love Stephen's suggestion to fill our eyes with fruits and Robert's idea of someone looking at fruits to add even more interest. |

I will leave this to Sunil, as our monochrome master, but I would be tempted to brighten the two bridges to have them stand out and draw our eyes to the fascinating bridge lines. I think the "object select" in Camera Raw or Photoshop would do a great job picking just the bridge and not the spaces in between.
I do like the tire track in the grass that leads us through both bridges. |

Spectacular! How many images do you think you stacked? Do you use a tripod? Do you think the plant is Borage? Did you add the water drops? There are special little misters for macro photographers, as the "dew" adds so much interest? Love it! Every month your images get even more incredible! |

Wonderful moment! I found Ed's comment about the whole scene interesting. I tried cropping down a bit and I came in from the right to remove the tall pole. I didn't remove power lines but it is important to do so, if you go with a bigger scene. To bring us into the bulls, I used a radial gradient to brighten them and add a bit of saturation. Ed's full scene might be better. It looks like a great conference! |

I also felt it looked stretched, I think its the way the horse is made. I brought in a third horse as an option. |

Riffing off of Ed's opening comments, I did bring up color on the bud (I used Object Selection). And then I experimented with cropping out the out of focus magnolia. Then the stem near the bud broke the image into 2 pieces. So I used the new Generative Fill to remove the stem, to see what you thought.
The magnolias are lovely! |

Thanks, Ed! It's too sharp for me, but I'm intrigued by the idea. Is there a tool or video you can send for me to get up to speed on the technique? I appreciate the idea!

Nice, Ed! Just for reference, I can post FOUR images for you when you send in your monthly image. So I could have easily posted this version for you, along with your raw and reworked image. Sunil has used all four spots occasionally, showing screenshots of how he achieved his complex composites, b/w conversion and so on. What you did is absolutely fine, but I just wanted you to know the flexibility the site offers. |
