Wow, I got so many compliments, I wasn't sure I was going to rework the image! Thanks! Pei-Fan suggested perhaps showing a bit more of the kestrel's back, so I lightened this area with a brush in photoshop. I also decided the orange foot was too much for me, so I dropped the saturation on it. Naturally, there was a big light area behind the birds' head, but it looked fake, so I darkened it down, but still left the light shadow rim. Finally, I noticed a "halo" around the beak edge, so I fixed that. Much happier with it and will be entering it in a PSA competition soon. Thanks for your help! |

Wow, lots of great advice and several awesome versions in monochrome--its just personal preference as to which one you like best.
It's a nice peaceful scene! |

Pei-Fan, Delighted you have such a beautiful bird! I recommend you darken the light green plants at the bottom. And I like the recommendation to crop down from the top to remove the mud, which doesn't add to your photo. Cropping in from the right and left is a good idea, too. If an environment doesn't help your image, it hurts your image. The image is about your close-up of the bird and the nesting material. Nice and crisp! |

I am so thrilled you got your image!! I LOVE the clouds--it makes it so different from the other zillion images out there. Love your composite. |

Jim, I drove out to Iowa to get the Iowa Capitol library based on one of your images last year! So I am going to have to check out Frankfort!
I like all your changes to your great original. I like the monochrome versions, but prefer the interesting colors in the the color.
Beautiful, no suggestions! |

Thanks so much for the kind comments, Robert! Yes, the mirrorless Canon lenses are stabilized, and there is stabilization in the camera, too. |
