Thanks for all the great feedback! I did open the shadows (thanks, Candy!) and darkened my sky (thanks, Dean!). Take a look and give me your feelings. I'd really get this perfect for competition. |

Thanks, Candy! I appreciate the "leave out the trees". I'll work on lightening the feathers and getting some cloud detail and repost here. Great tips! |

Thanks for your feedback on the "no trees" image. I'm glad you liked the story and the image. That makes me very happy!

Oh, I want one! Such a gorgeous animal, and you've captured him posing perfectly! I agree with the other comments on the tail tip. The eyes seem a bit over bright to me on my screen, I would probably darken a bit and leave the catch lights.
The wallaby and the rocks make a great diagonal, also!

When I saw this, I felt this was your best image, so creative. As all have said, it needs some lightening. If you have Lightroom CC, you can add a radial gradient with a bit of exposure. That will give you a winning image! There are a million You Tube videos on the Radial Gradient. It is very easy to use, even on a phone. Great job! |

What?! Your original looks like a throw-away. What a wonderful creation. The blue and gold make a great complimentary color contrast. To me, it seems abstract, as its difficult to see where/how its floating on water. Really peaceful and creative!! |

So glad to see a Cape May warbler! I have yet to see one in Florida and Indiana in my very new birding photography phase.
So cool you have it in a gorgeous setting. I agree the tighter crop works well. I do like the exposure down a bit, as it did seem bright to me. If you are going to compete in PSA Nature, vignettes are not allowed.
Great job! These are so fast and flighty! |

Love love love these! I especially like the original, a great diagonal formed by the birds' path.
In your composite image, there seems to be a whitish haze or halo behind and around the top bird? Maybe needs some darkening?
Did you get this at your birding workshop in Texas? I ask because we had a lot of similar setups in Edinburg, Texas in birding blinds.
Thrilled you got such great images! |

Love everything about this! I've taken several images of purple gallinules, but, as you mentioned, they live in swamp plants! Great color, fab background, spectacular story, great lines with the wings and plant.
Being super picky, I might consider lightening the bird's eye. I hope you are going to compete with this...I would love to have this in my portfolio! |

I love your version! However, for Nature, it would be too big of a change. But I definitely think I can edge it more your direction. Thanks for saying you liked the "air" with "no trees" version! |

Will you take a peek at my latest version with less pink and more room? I reworked it from the beginning. Better? Less pink/purple? |

I lightened the purple....better? I gave him a bit more room to fly into...too much to fly into?
Thanks for all the help on this one! |

I gave the Spoonbill more room, as everyone advised. I lightened the eye. Is the whitish neck too dark? It is in shade. I sharpened it a bit differently, and I think its better.
Thanks for the feedback! Wanna compete with this one! |

Whoa! I LOVE Jason's LUT! Incredible transformation. A guy in our club is a Hummer photographer, and he uses four lights to stop the action and light up the hummer and add the shine to them. So you did a great job getting so much detail. Happy to share the R5 settings I am using that nature photographer Adam Jones gave me. Easy to do over the phone.

Jeez, once again, I had the same thoughts as Mitch! I love his face, but I would think you were in to close if it was a family member or friend. So if we identify him as a bartender/owner, it will work really well. And just a bit of straightening will perfect it. |

What??!! She jumped that high in the woods?! Way cool! I do love Jason's colors fit a bit better--going to have to learn about LUT's! Either flip works for me.
Brilliant and fresh, as always! |

What a fun capture! Like Mitch, I'd love to know where you snapped this. I like everything you've done, but I do think the back windows and the bright spot take away from such an interesting character.
One thought, there is a man in the train facing your subject. He might be interesting to lighten just a bit. |

Jim, What a great pic! I had the same thoughts as Mitch, almost word for word. And I really like how its warmed up a bit and lighter in Mitch's version. I use NIK's Perspective, which does a great job getting rid of distortion on wide angle lenses. Great potential here! |

Mitch, thanks for the suggestion of modifying the crop, I'll play with that. Feel free to reach out on the firmware updates, I highly recommend them. I googled how to do it, and it was surprisingly easy. But happy to Zoom with you and walk you through it. |
