I played with your crop solution to my crappy sky, but in the end, I felt it was too tight. I reworked it, take a peek at my repost to Candy. I think its stronger, but not my best work. Thanks for the radical look! It really helped me see it differently. |

Good idea! I chose a similar crop in my rework. I've posted it under my reply to Candy. It did strengthen my photo, but I don't think its a winner. I appreciate your feedback! |

I tried your suggestion and it did improve my pic. I've posted it in my reply to Candy. Thanks! |

Thanks, Dean. I added a new crop under my reply to Candy, but I agree that its not a strong enough pic. Thanks! |

Thanks for being candid, Candy! I appreciate it. I've added a new crop version below and added a vibrance layer. I think its improved, but I agree it is not as good as many of my other photos. |

Very fun capture, a bit mystical. Did you play with DeHaze to the LEFT to make it more foggy? That might work well with a brush to just brush the areas you want foggy.
The foreground water seems a bit too crunchy and you might want to play with removing clarity to make it more foggy or mystical. I'm not sure you over-sharpened it, it may just be all the growth in the water making it look that way.
You might bring down the brightness in the back with a neutral density filter. |

Adorable! Candy, these are Mottled Ducks, aren't they? Beautiful job lightening the duckling faces and adding catchlights in the ducklings' eyes.
What is your trick for adding catch lights since it doesn't look like the ducklings had them? |

Oh, so beautiful! Great job not overexposing the whites in the Aussie sun. The blue/gold complementary colors are fabulous.
I'd think about bringing out his eyes, and maybe some of the dating gannets. You might consider giving him just a tiny more room at the top and the left, the wing tips seem a little tight.
Where does one go in Australia to see something like this? |

Squirrels are tough to shoot, so fast! Great catchlight in the eyes. I'd be tempted to give him just a tiny bit more room on the top and left. You might desaturate the grass a bit, or darken it. Maybe you could add a texture to add more interest and create a Candy Creation! |

Mervyn, Sweet! So this was a single macro shot and not focus stacked? Really awesome texture and color. If not entering it in PSA Nature, I'd remove some of the distracting sticks and needles. If going to compete, I would darken them, particularly the stick on the middle right that zooms our eyes off the page. A vignette might help with minimizing the background, also. Lovely capture and super crisp. |

Mitch, thanks so much! Sky replacement is ridiculously easy. Way easier than almost anything else! Watch the free video on MattK.com. You'll love it! |

Wow, looks like you had a great trip! And so cool how this bear adapted his fishing technique. I like Terry's larger crop, we see more of the wilderness, as opposed to a zoo, and we see how you were high above.
It seems like maybe brushing him with some contrast or vibrance would make him even more fabulous.
I'd be scared to death to be there! |

I do think removing the pole, lightening the front of the car and darkening the road might bring this to life even more. For me, I'd love to see the driver in the car. |

I love it! The mono is fantastic! It tells such a sad story. I do agree with Terry that it seems a bit over sharpened. How I created my pic this month is a sharp layer and an unsharp layer, created a mask and then selectively brushed off the sharpening where I didn't need it. That might work for this. So proud of you to photograph in Happyland and look poverty in the eyes. |

Wow, your recovery on this is phenomenal! A rare Sunil photo in color! Fantastic environmental portrait.
I agree that it would be worth adding a tiny bit of room on the the right. To get rid of the "halo" or "motion blur", I use clone and put it on "darken" blend mode and just go nice and slow and they will be gone.
Brilliant, Sunil. |

Very cool capture! I love it! I love the gold, especially on his leg. The only thing I might consider is making the shadows around their heads a bit more open. Its tough to figure out the person on the right. On the left of the guy, the shadow on the left dark jacket makes him hard to figure out, as well as his backpack seems a bit shadowed, too.

Wow! Thanks so much, Terry! What do you think about Sunil saying I should straighten a bit? Also, I think Jim's crop is good, do you like that also?
I did drop in a sky I took on the trip, as it was completely blown out, so this is going to be in Open Color, not Travel.
Thanks for two thumbs up from Terry! |
