Thanks, Pierre,. I cropped in quite a bit on the left, How much more would you recommend cropping in? He has tail feathers there I didn't want to crowd. |

Candy, I had some suggestions to crop from the top and the left. Do you think it improved the composition--see my 6/25 post. Thanks in advance for your feedback! |

I've taken everyone's advice and cropped from the top and the left. This did move the bird's eye off of Rule of Third's, but did make the bird fill the frame more. I also darkened the light spots on the stick behind the spoonbill's butt. I added back some darkening on the top and sides so there weren't bright spots near edges. Any further suggestions before I enter PSA competition with it? Many thanks! |

Geoff, what a lovely capture! I thought cattle egrets were shorter and had a golden head. Perhaps yours are a bit different? I'd love to see your original. Did you make any changes to your photo?
You've given it room to fly into it, nothing is overexposed (my issue this month and last month) and your background is not distracting.
I'll see if anyone else things if it might be a bit more dynamic if you cropped a bit off the bottom so the bird wasn't quite so centered.
If not entering in PSA Nature, you can flip the bird (Candy's trick),so that it is flying the same direction we read, instead of flying out of the scene. |

Candy, he's gorgeous! It's a young one? Such a great expression! I'd love to hear about your choice of spot metering and if that's a good choice for white birds.
Fantastic shot, as always! |

Gorgeous, gorgeous bird! I'd love to see your original. If you aren't going to enter in PSA nature, you can flip the bird so he is walking out of the frame (left to right, like how we read).
I would definitely work to make her eye more prominent, as it is a bit dark and indistinct. Being more picky, there is a tiny white bit at the end of her tail and some bright reeds in the front of her that might be good to darken or desaturate just a tad.
Proud of you to run out and photograph from a text! |

Great leading line taking us back into the deep woods, Dean! Wow, how did you handhold at 1/15? Incredible! The light coming through the woods seems a bit bright and maybe add a neutral density filter to darken?
I might darken the two horizontal branches at the top to add a bit more of a frame.
Interesting that Traverse City doesn't have leaves on the trees yet. |

I love this, Mervyn! Where did you find them? Cuteness overload! Do you have your original? I'd love to see what changes you made, as you didn't mention what you did. It's great that you had a dark background behind their fluffy heads! Their eyes and white head seem a bit bright, but it may be my monitor. I'll wait to see what the real birding experts say. |

Terry, I just love the changes, especially the brightening of the yellow brick, a nice complement to the red. I think its really eye catching and you've eliminated a lot of distractions. Bravo! |

Hi Terry, I don't have a better photo, where I have separation, the rider is twisted toward the horse and we miss his face and horse tongue. In my new version, on 6/25, I went with the tighter crop others suggested. What are your thoughts for this in PSA Color? Since I removed the crowds, I'm sure I'm out of Travel or Photojournalism. Your thoughts? |

I've made some changes, based on your suggestions. I trimmed in from top and right, and darkened between the rails. I trimmed the shadow to "fit" now. Thanks, Sunil.
Any other suggestions before I enter in competition? |

Thanks, Terry. Interesting idea to extend to the right. And I will see if I have more separation between the rescue rider and the cowboy. Appreciate your feedback! |

I LOVE the idea of a mystery photo in your office! I would have chosen a monorail track, I guess I'm normal (boring!) based on your Rorschach test! I would never have figured out I was looking up into a hotel atrium.
I do like that you've added a bit more blue color to the original and I'm blown away this was with f/3.2 and so slow---it has a lot of depth given a shallow wide angle and a slowwwwwww shutter speed. This would be sooooo good in a repetition competition.
I don't have any suggestions, its really a fun idea to have in your office.

Mitch, thanks so much. if I understand, you'd suggest I make the double pole just a single pole? Interesting idea! I did shorten the shadow with the clone tool, so it fit in the frame better. I can certainly shorten it a bit more to implement your plan. ;-) |

Lovely pic, Helen. Good on you to try a new genre! I agree with Mitch about the sign on the right. It seems a bit hot, but maybe that's my computer display. It's a great old/new topic!

Terry, have the phone booths all been converted to gardens? I have a bunch a pix taken in them, just so wonderful and object!
We have a lot of interest going on with the phone booth and the sweeper and the old door. What about a crop to remove the step lines and the top left blown out sky? Or drop in a sky? Here's a quick crop.

I love the dialogue here--making the sign say "old" and using a super senior or a vintage vehicle. And perhaps a vintage "look" from Nik or Topaz?

I adore the textures, Sunil! The light at the top of the stairs quickly leads my eyes up, but the photo ends. The original is very interesting. Although blown out, we are led to the green, which could be converted to monochrome and add to the geometric nature of the steps and the "square" with the colored center. Just a thought, I'll look for everyone's suggestions. |

Holy Moly! I had to look and look to see the arch (and I've been there). Strangely enough, it looked like a close up of a few inches of blue metal. What an interesting leading line! I can't wait to hear what everyone else sees! I don't have any comments yet, but I'll circle back. VERY creative! |
