Thanks so much! I expanded the canvas to give the Little Blue Heron a little more room front, back and on top for his head, as suggested. I did darken his legs, are they dark enough? I did lighten the bird's feathers a bit, does it look okay? I did work on making the 1/2 eye show up more, but I'm not sure it does. I added a stroke. Any final suggestions? I really like this version with all of your suggestions much better! See my 12/24 corrected entry. |

Hi Dean, You directed your comments on my bird to "CANDY", which is the greatest compliment I could ever get! Ha ha!

I think you are improving each month! I agree its a bit of a cluttered background, but butterflies are a very tough subject to do well. I'd look at using your adjustment brush and painting down the bright spots on the outside instead of a standard vignette. The right side is already dark and the left side is lighter than the butterfly, so you'll find that selectively choosing areas will work well. Rad Drew is an Indiana photographer with zillions of free and inexpensive Cell phone photo classes, and he is a big SnapSeed user, which is a free app and incredibly powerful. Geoffrey mentioned this, as well as several other options. |

Sorry that I somehow missed this! It's beautiful!! The B/W is perfect! I'm not in love with the tree on the right, maybe trim in so it ends on the tree trunk and not half chopped off?

Thanks for visiting, Isaac! I think darkening the legs or reducing luminosity is a good suggestion. I agree this won't be a winner in international, but hopefully will do okay in my photo club. I am just starting to shoot birds, and this is my first behavior short. A long way to go, I know. |

Geoffrey, I love what you've done here. Yes, the flower is a bit bright, but creates a wonderful subject area with the focus of the butterfly face.
I have always been told to not worry about high ISO and get the higher shutter speed. Noise can always be removed, if necessary, but focus is key. Sweet creation! |

Candy, what an interesting transformation. The waves of sand leads us to the twisty tree and the textured background keeps us in the photo. I love the light on the branches. |

I love this capture, Pierre. Such a simple, but strong, composition. I would consider more of a vignette to keep our attention on the subject. |

Mervyn, what a lovely capture. I think a light vignette will keep us in focused on the gorgeous central light and tone down some of those hot spots of the light coming through the trees. |

Terry, Photoshop is having a bug with the newest version where it won't save and tells you that you have an error. Soooo annoying. Finally got it to save today! |

Terry, I love how you keep working your photos. I like the blurred steps, but would like to see them darker, as my eye goes past your "model" and right up into the nothingness. I like your title, it encourages one to look more closely and se that he is alone and he has a phone. Happy New Year! |

I am having a Photoshop error and it will not let me save my changes to my "Havana Relaxation" (possible new title--like it?). I have spent all night goggling solutions and have copied layers to new files and made virtual copies and shut down...Photoshop saved my changes to my photo for DD69 without issues. Anyway....I did blur the smoke, add more blurry smoke, darkened the ashtray bright area, and took down the orange ash. I photographed this at a workshop, so I don't have access to reshoot with the entire cigar and more of the bottle (both would be big improvements, thanks!). I did enter it in our local photo club and won 2nd in the Still Life category with a PSA Still Life judge, so I am happy about that! I think it looks better now...as you can see in my screenshot from 12/24. Thanks for all the awesome suggestions! Oh, how about Havana Club Life for a title? |

Jim, I think it looks a lot better with the light down! Thanks for the explanation--yes, bracketing makes sense. I also saw a Matt K video where he recommends photographing the scene at sunset and sitting by your tripod until the lights come out and then blend your sunset/evening photos to get the look you want. I wonder if you might want to lighten a couple of buildings just a touch, so its easier to see what everything is. Wonderful work! |

I like it a lot, Abdo! I think your added sky worked out well and its not too much. The sun placement is lovely. There is a tiny palm on the right that is not part of your group of palms, and you might want to remove those fronds. It is a very pretty photo! |

I love this! Really beautiful! Tell me about the Canon Auto Enhance. Do you mean the Auto on the Develop Panel or something different? My eye keeps going to to brown pile in the middle of the ground that doesn't make any sense. So I would lighten that a tad. |

Hi Terry, Can you explain your title to us? I might lighten his face a bit so we can connect with your guy. My eye goes up the steps and off to the left, because its so ight there. I might darken that down just a bit.

Sunil, I love the architecture and lighting. I am not wild about the gentleman wearing a modern ball cap, and I agree it might be more interesting if he was further in the frame. I do love the creamy warm colors (and your gentleman also carries these colors). I do like Stephen's title, and it gives a reason for the man to be in your frame. |

I love this! Beautifully done! The flag doesn't bother me as much as the glow from the light below does. Perhaps you can use a little selective dehaze on it. Perhaps the clone tool would let you clone the other cool red pillars over to remove the flag. Absolutely my favorite by you! |
