Wow, beautiful moment! Such a proud and magnificent bird. I do think Candy's idea of lighten bird and darken ground will enhance this even more. Bravo! |

I love Isaac's changes to give us a clear, clean view of your hysterical pic. Is it a ground squirrel or a chipmunk? |

Thanks, Candy. Yes, I think the drops are too harsh. The tiger was too close--I had on my 100-400mm lens and photographed at 100 mm. So I lost this legs. ;-(.

Can't wait to learn all the Florida birds! Its always a pleasant surprise to see how you re-imagine your pix. Going to a vertical and flipping it and de-saturating your greens really changed your original image. Gorgeous detail. No suggestions. |

What a wonderful moment! I think some post-processing could really improve your little guy. I'd try some noise reduction to clean your sky, and some serious selective sharpening on the squirrel. I think he could be more crisp. I'd think about cloning out the stick in the top center of the pic, and I'd burn down the rock.
Where did you capture him? Brilliant! |

Wonderful capture! Super sharp bird at a great moment! Can't wait to go out shooting with you and hope to get this kind of shot!
A few distractions--there seems to be a lot of noise in the pic, which is odd for ISO 400. But running a noise reduction program might be helpful.
What is the dark blue blob on the low left? I'd clone in the light blue sky.
I might consider cropping a bit of the sky off the top, it moves the osprey eyes more into the rule of thirds. And removes some more of a plain sky.
Finally, I'd be tempted to burn down the gold-ish branches in the nest. And maybe burn the green branches down a tad.
It's fantastic, and a few tweaks will really make it a winner |

Alan,
Good for you to take an online photography course! I recommend a Kelby membership--$149/year and unlimited courses by dozens of the top photographers in the world. Heavy emphasis on portraits, landscapes and architecture--all of which you have been working on. They have critiques and online talks and a "series" where you take class after class to learn Photoshop or Lightroom.
I like your second rework, mostly because the sky is not so saturated. But it may be a bit too light. Maybe split the difference ;-).
The greatest way to improve your landscape photography is to photograph at dawn and dusk and on a tripod. Or very stormy or overcast. Any other time of the day, the light is flat and harsh, especially is the hot sun where you are!

Thanks, Jason, Richard and Terry! I took in everyone's suggestions and started over from scratch! I straightened the pic to match Jason's, and added a little more room to the right and top. I added a sky that wasn't so strong, hoping it would look a bit more believable. I left the three balloons with less "glow" on them, as I thought they looked a bit "too much". Am I getting closer? |

This is a great story, Sunil. Fabulous that the boy was wearing the orange hat and light clothing, as he shows up nicely. I like Terry's version, but also enjoy your version and Jason's. |

Wow, I think is my favorite pic of yours to date! I love the entire look, the wildness of the nature and the little village and how you captured the water. I like the lack of contrast, it feels like morning and mysterious and very "Peru". I don't have any changes, its really "my kind of pic"! |

I am not a street photography fan, but I think you did a great job catching a fun moment. I agree with Terry about the moving car adding drama and a possible drop to add focus on "true love". |

I love this, Abdo! I agree with the comments above. Super sharp and super great moment.
Was your big lens on a tripod? Do you know the type of owl this was?
What processing did you use to get such a sharp photo? I'd love to see your original. |

Hi Alan, hope you had fun with your family!
Glad you are enjoying the great scenery out your way!
What time of day did you shoot? Landscapes really need to be shot at dawn or dusk to get the best shot.
I like Jason's crop. The blue sky is a bit too turquoise/oversaturated (at least for an Indiana girl with pale skies all the time).
Did you try the texture slider to add texture in LightRoom? This would be a great pic for it!
The lower left is a bit white. Is that blown out, or just how the rocks were?
Finally, you shot at ISO 8000, which gave you a lot of noise, and didn't need to, as you have a lot of light and a lot of shutter speed you don't need--1/300 is plenty fast enough. If you drop your ISO, your pic would be a lot crisper. You can read up on this, it takes a while to get the hang of it. The F/22 was a good choice.
Your composition of blue/yellow are great complementary colors on the color wheel and gives you a strong composition. |

Richard, thanks for your thoughts, I appreciate it! Do you think the crop Jason chose fixes the weight problem? I could expand the right side a bit also. I'll try blurring the last two balloons. Thanks! |

Jason, Thanks, I like your crop! Do you have a suggestion on where to learn about the perspectives you suggest so often?
Do you like Richard's suggestion I give the final balloon a bit more room and I blur the last two balloons? |

I think its super fun! And pretty realistic, except for the "zombie" in the title. Can you chat about how you fixed the sodium lamp coloring and any other fixes you did to get the pic ready for the newspaper?
How did you do in competition? So creative! |
