I am now moving to Florida six months a year, and I can't wait to try and get this type of shot. Beautiful diagonal, beautiful sharp focus, and the lighting is great. Beautifully done! |

Donna, I love your frog photos, and this is really a serene shot. I am amazed how you went from the very richly textured frog to light texture on the leaves to areas of no texture at all. Bravo. |

I think its a fascinating shot, Candy! The dark simple background added a lot to the focus being on the butterfly.
I think the upside down and flipped butterfly look completely different and don't even feel like the same photo.
I like Dean's burned wings. |

Nice moment! I really like the sumac and gray bird with seed. I agree on cropping out the out of focus branches and I like Candy's version that enhances your lovely composition. |

Just back from Florida, sorry for the delay in joining in. I love this pic, Dean! I agree that dropping the brightness on the sun would help this, but its a wonderful composition and beauty. |

Mervyn,
Wow, you were close! Fabulous detail and fabulous lighting! Being super picky on a wonderful shot, there are a few bright grass strands you might want to darken. |

I've made Dave's latest suggestions and I've continued to lighten the sky and I fixed the light rays by the ground that were off kilter. I burned down pavement more and smoothed my mistakes on her body. I used DxO noise reduction, which brought out the stars. What else would help this be competition ready? Thanks! |

The yellow rays not centered left to right? Or do you think the rays should also be centered top to bottom? Thanks for taking a look, Dave! |

Jason, what don't you like about WhatsApp as a way to look at pix? Maybe Drop box? I agree your site won't work for what Abdo is suggesting. Thanks for lending your expertise to Abdo's request. |

Sorry for the long delay! I've been a slacker this month keeping up with all of you, I apologize! I started over with better noise removal and much slower on my liquifying the woman, and replaced the missing lights in a different manner (still more work on the left light in the grass is needed). I also used Jason's crop, which I LOVE, thanks! I also have a more purple sky, which I like better. I darkened the pavement. What other changes would you suggest? |

Jason, what do you think about using Aminus3 for a discussion? Abdo could include the link of what he wants us to discuss and we could have the option to go out to his photo/photos on Aminus3 to discuss. What resolution are the pix? And is "remix" when we rework the photo for someone? Or can we just comment? Obviously, others outside our group could comment, but I don't see that as a negative. Finally, is Aminus3 your site, or you are just a member? I joined, but have not yet participated. Thanks for the explanation! |

Hi Dave,
I hope you are feeling better and are through your tax stuff. Never fun!
Sorry for the delay, I'm returning home to the snow belt. Looking at this with fresh eyes, I like the rock where you had it naturally. It seems a bit "lost" or "unattached".
It's a fabulous composition and wonderful processing. |

I've been in Florida, sorry for the late response. Where was the art exhibit? Clever idea! I'd like to share with our art museum.
I do think your processing is much more pleasing and clean than the original. If I did not read the title, I would have not have found the bicycle, but it was an "ah-ha" moment, and I showed it to my husband, who also liked the art and puzzle of the composition. |

Sunil, I understand your comments that it is a family outing to a beautiful place, and so the girl's fun mood is important. Perhaps just taking out the random head between the mom and dad and the "half people" in the background would give you a cleaner, more pure Sunday afternoon outing.
The tree removal was a good idea to further simplify the composition.
Your b/w is fabulous, as always. |

Alan, once again, I'd like to give you kudos for trying new things! Blurring backgrounds, taking out legs and shooting through chain link--all formidable tasks! I love the emotion you caught this month and last month with the cute girl.
I have no sports photography knowledge, but I like it better without the legs. It's about the kid and his pain. Did he get hit with the ball when he was at bat or sliding into home base? This is my favorite of your photos...a unique moment that you had to act fast to catch, and with a number of obstacles in your way. Great job. |

Thanks for all the great feedback! I'm heading home from Florida, so I've not been able to respond effectively.
Jason's crop is awesome, I will change that and lighten sky, and definitely Dave is right--my slimming technique was awful--done on a laptop without a Wacom tablet--so will work on that and present a much improved version!
For the light turning out this way--it was a happy accident. Many, many shots were poor and uneven or stopped too early (this one did, I fixed it). In the videos we watched online, the lighting was smooth, but m girlfriend got tired out and we got the stops. It's a special opaque tube you buy and put a special little colored flashlight in. I've attached a couple of bloopers and how the smooth light is supposed to look. These are quickies and not fully worked. |

I love the idea of your shiny rocks and your spectacular sky. I think Alan's idea of a diptych (2 pix hung apart) is a clever idea and allows your two subjects to be strong.
I would never have thought about getting down so low and using the wet rocks as my leading lines, but it was a fantastic idea I will be using! Qatar is certainly beautiful. |

Jason, Beautiful shot! I think Richard's wire removal and tree cleanup and wall darkening helped. I'm not sure the fog works for me. Love that you keep working the area and getting the moon with the chapel, its a gorgeous tableau. |

I absolutely love this rendition. It adds a lot of interest and the strokes feel like heron feathers. Great job. I can see you are loving Topaz. I have been playing with it also. I think Richard's idea of minimizing or removing the rock would be worth seeing, as it is a bit distracting. |

I do think this is a beautiful photo, with amazing light, and the black/white conversion is gorgeous. I do like Richard's minimizing people. I might keep the little girl to the right also, but thinning out the others really add a lot of drama and focus to our pix. |
