Rob, I really found this an interesting image. I spent a bit just trying to figure out what he was doing with the zany head tilt and the interesting grains in the foreground.
I'd love to see a catchlight in the bird's eye. It looks a bit dull. Does anyone else find the sand front center distracting since its out of focus? I'd be tempted to crop up a bit to remove that sand. I love the in-focus sand on the left.
Thanks for the bird lesson, Rob! |

Very sharp head and eye, beautiful colors, nice water lines, the light turned out beautifully for you. It seems to have just a tad too much black at the top for my taste, but I understand you are trying to keep it from being dead center. Nice shot! |

I just loved the lines in this composition. The of the feathers and wings are almost surreal in their movement. Add the bizarre beak, eye, crook in the neck, and nesting materials, and I really felt it was a giant bird of long ago. The dark textures really add to the mystery and ancient feeling for me. It really reminds me of perhaps the cover for a story book? Have a great holiday season, Candy! |

I think this is a lovely fall photo, the light is lovely. I agree he is a bit soft, but just needs some sharpening.Did you try Dehaze on it, Pierre? I think that might be the trick. I think Candy's flip was an interesting idea. |

Dean, I love this, one of your best. Very creative. I think Candy's capture solved my problem of the out of focus left side next to our very graphic action shot! The snake body off the side is award winning--giving this awesome lines. |

I understand Mervyn's frustration of wanting to show the environment, and yet the environment does pull our eyes away from our gorgeous family of hartebeests (one of my favorite animals). Certainly, taking down the brightness a bit still lets us see the water (definitely not a zoo!) and keeps us with the perfect family capture. I do love Pierre's treatment of the brightness and Candy's treatment of the family. |
