52 Aug 25 Reply Many thanks Sharon. I was undecided about leaving some detail beneath the mushrooms, but prompted by Mike's and your comments, I will try darkening it out. Aug 14th
52 Aug 25 Reply Many thanks Mike. I will experiment with darkening that area. Aug 14th
52 Aug 25 Reply Many thanks Pamela. I will try that white frame.

52 Aug 25 Reply Thanks so much Ally. Re the background, while in LightRoom Classic I masked the toadstools, inverted, and took the exposute and whites down. Then I fine tuned it in Silver Efex. Aug 12th
52 Aug 25 Reply Many thanks Tom. Aug 11th
52 Aug 25 Reply Many thanks Poly. I will try that thin white line. Aug 9th
52 Aug 25 Comment Amazing image. Hard to believe that the birds - and you - were not blown from those cliffs. At first I thought perhaps the birds were following the mother in an upward climb, but then I thought they might be positioning themselves such that the wind blows them into the rock and not off it. It is fascinating that they are all looking up in the same direction. The subtle colors in the rocks, the diagonal row of birds and the catchlights in their eyes further add to a great composition. 52 Aug 25 Comment There is a great story here. My attention is drawn the those baby eyes. I love the way the baby is looking right at the viewer while the parents look away. The shallow tonal range makes this a difficult image to convert to B&W. I prefer the color version for it has more contrast between the subjects and the background, and I like the color variations in the monkies hair. Aug 4th
52 Aug 25 Comment I love this image. My attention was immediately drawn to the earth tone colors and clarity, and then the horizontal zones, the line of whitewater, the reflections in the water and patterns in the wall. Finally, my eyes danced round the wonderful pod of seals whose activities are frozen in time. In studying the original I discovered a small seal at waters edge looking up at the bull. I would try shifting the crop to the left to include him. Aug 4th
52 Aug 25 Comment Spire Cove looks like a magical place. Your settings worked well to capture the mood and stop the action in that choppy water. I get seasick thinking about it. You did a great job toning down the brilliance of the sky and water, and bringing those creatures to life. Aug 4th
52 Aug 25 Comment I find this image very pleasing and its story, as told by the raindrops in the air and clinging to the branches combined with the outstretched wings, strong. The crop and resulting composition are great. I especially like the snowy white of the egret against the dark muted background. The subtle patches of light around the branch portend the clearing and add to the story. The image is wonderful as is. Aug 4th

79 Aug 25 Reply I knew you had composed the image intentionally, but I did not realize the connection between the pole and neglect of the environment. However, I did feel the emptiness of that barren beach. Thank you so very much for sharing your creative vision. This is what fine art photography is all about.

79 Aug 25 Reply Lauren, the struggle is also our struggle, and I am betting on us to overcome - us.

79 Aug 25 Reply You have applied your creativity, artistry and tools so very well. It is a unique image. I bet the navy blue background is terrific as well. Not many would think of bringing IR to a colorful flower show. What gave you the idea? Aug 6th
79 Aug 25 Reply Flower Tea is strikingly beautiful. How did you create the black background? Aug 6th
79 Aug 25 Comment Thanks for your suggestion regarding the bright patch at the upper left. It does distract, but then the black diagonal lines lead my attention to the crack and down to the cone. Thus my eyes dance about the image and I feel an energy as though that cone might be blown away to fertile ground. I do like your version as well. It is more restful and prompts reflection on the cone's plight. Aug 5th
79 Aug 25 Reply Lauren, your images inspire me. Thank YOU! Aug 5th
79 Aug 25 Comment Wonderful detail in this image. I especially like the platters of yellow pollen offered up on pale green filaments. The blue-on-blue stripes on the buds and the repeating swatches of green are pleasing. The focus stacking was excellent and revealed detail in both the pollen and the bud at the left. I look forward to seeing more images made with this new lens. Aug 5th
79 Aug 25 Comment Amazing how fern-like the patterns of the ice crystals are. It is fascinating to contemplate the shared physics of pattern formation in ferns and ice crystals. Overall the garden has a delightfully alien look that inspires fantasy. The textures, horizontal zones, the light behind the ferns and diagonal swatch of dark in the upper right all contribute to an excellent composition. Like all Fine Art, close inspection of this image raises ambiguities that makes the viewer think. Aug 5th
79 Aug 25 Reply above is Sally Mann's image

79 Aug 25 Comment This image brought to my mind Sally Mann's image (Untitled (Deep South #22)1998, printed 1999) of a barren, upright tree trunk in the middle of a river (attached). The image "The Beach. cnt'" jars my eyes and mind, and makes me think. What is the upright log? Why has the photographer positioned the log in the center of the image and stopping right at the horizon? Why color? The sand looks muddy and the blues of the sky and water look unreal. Why so much of the cloudless sky? Where is this empty beach? Why is it barren? For me, the way you have composed and processed this image takes photojournalism into the realm of fine art. I think it would also be interesting in B&W as I suggested in the attached version. Aug 5th
