52 Feb 25 Reply Thanks Tom. I will cut back the sharpening and see what it looks like. Feb 15th

52 Feb 25 Reply Great tip on metering. I have not paid enough attention to it. Thanks!

52 Feb 25 Comment I LOVE everything about this image: the emergence of the bird and his nesting material from the dark sky; the mysterious green/red lower background; that EYE; the repetition of the green in the branch and around the eye and in the background; the flair of the green twig at the right end of the branch; the tonal range; the huge dark diagonal wing that takes our attention from the lower swirls of reddish color right up to the eye. This wonderful composition is wall ready! Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Comment Wonderful action. Your crop demonstrates the size difference well. I also love all the action in the original. I think you have two great images here. As Pamela and Like suggested, I would ease up on the brightening. Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Comment These birds make me smile. They look like they are watching the Super Bowl. I would add a bit more exposure as Pamela and Mike suggested. Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Comment SPECTACULAR! The detail and colors on the bird AND that eye are wonderful. The bright green grass on the left pulls my attention a bit, I would tone it down. I was not familiar with the Siren. What a fascinating creature. Thank you for introducing us. Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Comment Great action shot. There are two images here. As Mike pointed out a closer crop would magnify the action, yet as you presented it we see the whole bird in his environment. I am always torn by this decision. The background tan and blue are repeated in the bird for a lovely effect. The parallel strips of grass and water and the intersecting perpendicular heron neck are good compositional elements. What is Brilliance AI? Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Comment MAGNIFICENT! I love the crop and flip. It is a fanciful image that suggests fairy tales. Feb 10th
52 Feb 25 Reply Thanks Mike. I need to study techniques for dodging and burning digitally. Thanks for your thoughts on vignettes. I will experiment. The power and pleasure of our dialog is that I always learn new ways of seeing things - and techniques to present what I have seen.

52 Feb 25 Reply Thanks for your observations. I selectively sharpened the bird and I added the wing tip below the branch to the selection. Thus the branch was not sharpened. I will try again and this time I will include the branch in the selection. I will experiment with those edges. I may have touched them when I cleaned up the twigs. Feb 5th

79 Feb 25 Reply Thanks Freddie. I am always amazed by the things one can "see" in an image. I LOVE your top hat interpretation. I did not see it at first, but now that you brought it to my attention it is clearly top hat material. I will play with this top hat theme. Feb 21st
79 Feb 25 Reply By straightening the stem you created a more powerful diagonal on the left. The background gives the impression that the flower is emitting faint light. The overall result is beautiful. Feb 12th
79 Feb 25 Reply I like your suggested experiment, and if I ever feel inspired to photograph a drain again I will definitely try it. This photo had a plumbing-related purpose that it fulfilled with a flair. Not sure what you meant by your comment on the those vertical vertical "borders". I did not add them digitally, they appeared in the iPhone image. They do look artistic. They result from the angle of the flashlight and reflections from the mirror above the drain, and faucet shadows. YES it was fun, but not all the fun was digital. AND - I would like to flush some of 2024 down that drain. Feb 12th
79 Feb 25 Reply Adobe links PS and LRC in their Photography program, so both are used. LRC keeps getting more powerful. BUT other programs are indeed popular. Feb 9th
79 Feb 25 Comment Lovely orchid. I like the diagonal. Adding green to the background is a great idea. I would make the green greener, and also lighten the background shadows. Removal of the hose worked fine. As an aside, I see you used PS for some editing.
Lightroom Classic now has great masking and generative removal tools.

79 Feb 25 Comment Very interesting. The camera settings worked well. The magic smoke swirling up from the "spinning top" lower left up to the "HI", and the woman's pondering of the make a nice story. The more I look at it, the more stories emerge. Feb 9th
79 Feb 25 Comment Very creative. Particularly interesting is the direction of the light - under the fliers. The light and colors work well. The overall effect is that of a dreamscape.

79 Feb 25 Comment Great colors and swirls. It does look like waves. This image would provide a nice background for a subject. I never tried combining ICM with burst mode. Thank you for posting it. I will try this. Feb 9th
