52 Jan 25 Comment WONDERFUL image. The detail on the hummingbird, caught in mid flight, is stunning. The tonal contrasts in the background, and its bokeh, combine to give the illusion that the bird is flying right out of the image. The complementary colors add to the power of the image. I would not change one thing. AND congrats on your AMAZING image in the Showcase. Catching that fly in mid air moments before it became a snack was remarkable. Jan 22nd
52 Jan 25 Comment Lovely action shot. I love the warm colors, wavy reflections, the captured fish, the look of victory in the bird's eye and the setting. I would open the crop to include some of those wonderful rushes and their reflections. Jan 22nd
52 Jan 25 Comment Wonderful portrait. The subdued background colors, and bokeh complement the bird perfectly. I love that you SEE much more than the big five! Jan 22nd
52 Jan 25 Comment Great shot that captures the power of the water and the contrast between the sharp rocks and silky water. Your camera settings and editing work well. I love the original, uncropped composition as it shows more of the rocks and the wonderful curve of the plummeting water. The water's change in direction about a third of the way from the bottom of the image has generated a pleasing diagonal line. Jan 22nd
52 Jan 25 Reply Thanks! I will simplify. Jan 12th
52 Jan 25 Reply I have not seen breeding herons. Thanks for introducing me to the color change in breeding herons. Because the yellow on the neck in the original was not obvious I assumed it was the result of processing. Jan 12th
52 Jan 25 Reply Thanks for your suggestions. I will try the simplification.

52 Jan 25 Comment Wonderful composition, and excellent detail. That eye is fixed on something ahead; the mystery of what that something is makes a good story. The cool tone in the original looks more natural to my eyes than the warm processed version. The latter has yellow tones in the neck that I have not observed in the few herons I have seen and in other images of herons. Jan 11th

79 Jan 25 Comment Great subject for exercising our imaginations. With Karl's processing the subject springs forth from the background. I see a smiling dragon on a romp with a long-haired rider hanging on for dear life. In the right foreground a sleepy gnome waves a greeting. Jan 23rd
79 Jan 25 Comment Very creative techniques, and concept. The bright pink in the lower left is distracting. Cropping from the bottom to eliminate it settles my eyes and brings them to the subject. With this crop, the red berries on the lower left to which the white petals point are more noticeable and strengthen the theme. Jan 23rd
79 Jan 25 Comment Interesting concept. I like the view of the distant, reclining sculpture seen through the gap formed by the arm and head of the sculpture in the foreground in your original shot of the sculpture. Very creative shot. Interesting elements in the reflection, as well as the form of the sculpture, are obscured in the total overlay. I see two features in that reflection that could be selectively overlayed to give another creative image. In the top white/blue layer of the reflection, on the left, is the face of a cat. I would try merging it with the head of the sculpture to generate a meditating feline. In the layer below, on the right, I see an abstract bicycle that could be merged with the reclining figure that then would be on the go, and perhaps the subject of the cat's thoughts. Jan 23rd
79 Jan 25 Comment Wonderful experiment and excellent composition. The gentle diagonal lines formed by the birds, bank and foliage lead the viewer up to the line of birds in the background. The bright lower left pulls my attention from the subjects. I would try cropping from the bottom and right to remove some of the distraction. Then I would try to lower the highlights on that splash of blue water to deemphasize it. Your image communicates a strong affect. Jan 23rd
