I see now that I did indeed overdo it. Mine has a harsh quality whereas yours is mellow. Back I go to LRC. Many thanks.

Thanks Polly!! I did realize that there were two types of turtles in the pond. AND I was not aware of the invasive species. I am not certain which type of heron it is. I am just beginning my birding. Hopefully some of our members will know. Have a look at the edited version I posted as a reply to Mike. What do you think?

Thanks Sharon. I darkened the background and brought out more color on the subjects. Please see my reply to Mike and let me know what you think. I want to try to print this image. |

Here is my attempt to enhance the colors and dull the background. I learned a lot about masking with this exercise. I would appreciate your comments.

Well, I can see the image on my laptop, but again it wont appear on the PSA site. STRANGE. |

I copied the link to the image by right clicking on it, then I opened that link in another Chrome window. The attached image is what appeared. I like it. When I enlarge the image it looks like the eyes are closed, not open as some have commented. The seaweed looks as though it has been enhanced with an artistic filter to simulate oil painting, however, the otter's head looks normal. That round stem on the left looks just like a huge metal bracelet on his arm. Altogether this is a fascinating image. |

I love the fanned wings of this bird. The crop seems tight and the bird looks off-balance to me, as though he will fall over backwards. I Like the original with the two birds at the left. Here the Spoonbill appears to be coming in to join a party, and he does not look off-balance. I also prefer the lighter background. I would crop a bit from the right, but leave the top of the grasses for context. Of course one can see more detail in the Spoonbill in the tight crop, but I believe both versions have merit. |

Although I can view your original, your image appears as a tiny icon that does not respond to any attempts to view it. |

I love those Autumnal colors, and the composition. The angled line of trees leads to the curve of road that takes my eyes up into the mountains. The progression from color into haze enhances the feeling of vastness and depth. I wonder if camera motion might have contributed to the slight lack of sharpness. Was the camera hand-held? I would try a watercolor filter for an impressionist effect in which the softness becomes an asset. |

Catching birds in flight is always very exciting to me. I love the graceful unfurling of those wings. I like the tone and gentle blur of the background. The bird and stump have a slight halo outline that may be an artifact of processing. I love the simplicity of the composition and the space into which the bird can fly. I would remove the twig on the upper left. |

I like this forest scene. You did a good job lightening and denoising the image. Because it seems a bit soft I might go with a watercolor filter to emphasize the artistic/impressionistic quality of the image. |

The white head with cascading pink pops from those whorling patterns, subtle earth tones and textures. The eye is wonderful, and the expression seems to say "Really? You would eat ME?" |

Great autumn colors and theme. The overall symmetry and its interruption by the few pumpkins on the path are pleasing, but could be stronger were the camera in the center of the path. The parallel and vanishing rows of pumpkins form leading lines that draw the eyes to the opening at the end, and give depth to the composition. Had it been possible, I would have walked in and avoided the shadowed area. |

Interesting composite. I like the sharpness of the face and the pink tongue against the blurred monochrome. I do not see how the face is related to the feathery background, and I do not understand how the woman and cart are related to the image as they do not appear in the final. |

Nice capture of a vintage machine. Holding the lens to the window worked. The monochrome works well, but I also like the blue in the original. |

Wonderful composition. It evokes a feeling of humanity abandoning the madness our time and returning to a nature. The vertical lines of graffiti give depth and lead the eyes through a tunnel into the wild. The colors are grand and the clarity pops. MARVELOUS! |
