Thanks Polly, and thanks for the tripod info. Even though most of the time I hand hold the camera for ease of angle, sometimes a tripod is called for and I fear mine would not be sufficiently stable. |

Thanks Sharon. I will try the portrait crop and vignette. I also love the idea of a watercolor effect. |

Thanks Pamela. I will try some of the creative approaches suggested in our dialog. I think the wind also contributed to the focus. |

Thanks. I will try some of the creative effects suggested in our dialog. The focus was also affected by wind. Next time I will try a faster shutter speed. |

The many interpretations that an image can assume is fascinating to me. When I processed this image I loved the background, but did not consider highlighting it. It looks wonderful in your version. I am not familiar with the "Neo" filter. What software includes it? I want to experiment with it. I particularly like your processing of the feather; it brings it to life. Many thanks! |

Amazing image! That poor poor frog. From the other's perspective - yum. Great job cleaning up the background. The heron's eyes are flaming in victory. This image is reminiscent of the poster "Never give up". |

Moody and edgy - perfect image for Halloween. Interesting how the B/W conversion transformed the field into a dark and stormy sky. The barbed wire is the ultimate spooky touch. |

It is grand that you saw and appreciated this rare moment of wonder and beauty in the aftermath of that hurricane. How did you process the image? There appears to be a halo around the bird. Your crop is excellent and gives the bird room to proceed. He seems to be pecking about looking for something. What could he find to eat there? Did you get any shots of the flock of 40? |

This is a striking and pleasing image of textured layers of color, rich in vertical, diagonal and triangular compositional elements, in balance, and in imbalance. My eyes drift through the layers and come home to rest on that lone dark pine in the lower right. There are walls crying out for this image. |

I am always amazed by the humming bird's ability to hover in mid air while drinking. You did a great job of freezing the motion of the bird's wings. The detail, texture and colors are impressive. By cleaning up the background and isolating the two trumpets you have created a lovely minimalist action image.
As I studied the image I was drawn to the faint splashes of color from the blurred flowers and stems. I wondered if including some of them might create a different artistic effect, and provide an interesting context from which the two strong trumpets emerged.

Thanks Karl. I offer the squirrels peanut butter sandwiches, trees loaded with nuts and an exercise apparatus filled with peanuts. In exchange they abstain from honing their teeth on my house, and they pose for pics.

You captured that magical transition from the moon to the rising sun with which you rose from your fall. I hope you were not injured. The camera and lens you "made do with" produced wonderful textural variations in this image. The fog hovering just above the mountain range adds depth and interest. That cathedral is fascinating. Were you able to enter it? I like the composition. The top of the Cathedral begins a diagonal from top left that slopes down to bottom right. The moon, Cathedral top, and misty mountain range balance and generate a compositional triad. This image is wall worthy. |

That Alien sure looks humanoid, yet its apparent atmosphere-less existence counters that hypothesis. OR is the Astronaut standing on a planet with an atmosphere quite suitable for the Alien, but toxic for the Astronaut? Or are we looking at an Alien spacesuit/helmet designed to mimic the human form? How did you create the alien "body". I thought at first that you distorted the head multiple times, but I am not sure. OR does the Alien lack a body and is munching on a freeze-dried health bar? Great job adding the face within the helmet. The repeating globe shape presents an interesting take on the rule of thirds that contributes to the excellent composition. The wealth of thought-provoking elements reflect its creativity. |

Wonderful abstract. I like the original too. They tell different stories. I crisped the original to tell the story of the Guardians of the Underwater Cave. |

iPhones never fail to amaze me. Which model did you use to make this image? The composition is excellent. I love that bare tree on which the rays shine. The image actually looks brighter than the original. |

Very artistic effect. What app did you use to slow the shutter speed and do the double exposure? The image is darker than the original. I really like the high key effect of the original and would lighten the image to create a more pastel high key. Instead of "auto light" in LR, try sliding the sliders in the basic adjustments. |
