You stopped this fellow in mid flight. I love the fan of the tail feathers. The red flower and the background compete with the hummer for my attention. I might try to tighten the crop especially from the bottom and sides, and to lighten those dark stems to bring more attention to the hummer. |

I love frogs. The setting for this fellow is wonderful. The pattern is fascinating. What plant is that? What is the pipe-like object in front of the frog? |

Great background and colors. The orange and yellow in the flower mimics that of the butterfly. That flower is wonderful. Do you know what it is? |

What a sweet expression. This is a great catch. Your adjustments of exposure etc are perfect. The owl is ready to leap from the image. I love the graceful drape of her wing over the branch. I would not remove the branches and twigs as I think they frame her well, and do not obscure any of her. Also, as you pointed out, twigs are her natural environment. |

You positioned yourself to create a wonderful composition. My eyes play hopscotch on the boulders, and the golden trees lead my eyes up to the mountain on top right. The symmetry of the trees and their reflection, and the detail in the trees and boulders are very pleasing. I like your toning down of the bright boulder on the right. In this version the pine trees have taken on a yellow cast, and the orange in the reflection seems muted. I prefer the green trees and bolder orange in your first version. I like the sky. Nature provided you a wonderful image. |

Many thanks for your comments Mike. I re processed the image. I did not use topaz or LRC at all. I dropped the original into PS, cropped, added some vibrance, and removed the extraneous material with the healing brush. Finally, to add texture I used the PS filter Oil Paint. I decreased the sliders to create a faint texture. Which version do you prefer? Are there any additional tweaks you can suggest? |

Wonderful winter scene, and regal eagle in his element. I also love the original. There the ice and snow are brighter, and there are several orange leaves in the branches to the left and higher than the eagle that match his beak. |

Striking image. The colors add impact. For me the title detracts from this impact. I would rather study the image and imagine what this man is feeling. |

Interesting image. Like Karl I would remove the elements right and left to create a simple image that becomes more striking. I like the original, though I would also remove the right and left elements. It has a warmer feel to it. It is not clear that the blue elements are shadows. Thus the image holds mystery without the title. I looked at your sole in Group 99. Actually the group name is Mono, so I dont think you broke any rule. |

I have never seen this bird. It is beautiful. As Karl pointed out it almost looks artificial. I find the extreme background blur distracting. Including more of the bird would be interesting. |

Many thanks for your comments Karl. I could indeed add a third element and create a deep ocean scene that would not break the rule of thirds. There is a yellow swirl that looks like a fish with a fin buried in the original that would suit that purpose well. BUT what I saw was a pair of dancers one of whom has taken a grand leap into the air whilst the other unfurls his cape not unlike a toreador. I felt that the tension of the composition resulting from using two elements fit well with the strong motion. |
