I LOVE this image. I have studied it repeatedly. It is an amazing abstract with the illusion of a mirror image, or an iceberg. Upon enlargement I thought I spotted a frog's head in the center. Finally I read your description and discovered that it was a bird. Compositionally I am drawn to the balanced elements of this image. The line produced, I assume, by the splash gives the illusion of the mirror image left and right, but of course there are really two wings. And that splash with its reflection in the water gives an up down balance. A fascinating and pleasing image. I rate it a 7. |

Amazing catch. The colors are beautiful. I have never seen water that color and so clear. The textures are also great. Although I agree that a crop would make that shark larger and thus more prominent, I really love the mystery and realism in your version. Looking at it I can imagine gazing out into that expanse of water and suddenly spying that shark. |

This is a wonderful minimalist scene. Being quite ready for Spring I shiver when I look at that vast expanse of snow. I do agree with everyone that cropping the trees on the right will enhance the image. I really love Mike's crop. The tree is balanced by the rolling hills on the left. I would not flip this image; it looks just right. Mike's advice on the exposure compensation and white snow is excellent. |

This is a wonderful action shot and is quite stunning as is. Your processing is terrific. There are a few tweaks I would try: flip the image horizontally (the swan just seems to want to reverse course); remove the lone duck (it is not as sharp as the swan and thus is a bit of a distraction), restore just some of the golden highlights in the water (the swan really pops in your processed version; although the gold in the original is beautiful, the swan doesn't pop as much, thus a slight restoration of the gold might be best). Without direct comparison between the 100-500 with and without the extender, and because the camera is hand held, it is difficult to evaluate the effect of the extender on the sharpness of the image. Don't give up on it just yet. |

Beautiful avian portrait. The smile and touch of red on the bird's face, the repeating ripple patterns in the water and bird's feathers together with the tack sharpness are wonderful. I would not change a thing. |

Fascinating image! The detail is wonderful. The water must have been clear, and the sun bright. The mere thought of being 40 ft below water surface has me panicking. The white coral branch in the center gives depth to the image. Your having captured a turtle in action is grand. Two objects, one on the very right edge near the top of the image, and another knoby object near the bottom and to the right are interesting. I think that this is a wonderful under water image. Processing it to resemble an "on-land" image would perhaps make it pop, but the image would lose the character of the natural environment. So you have several potential images here, all of which could be interesting. |

THANK YOU! I sure appreciate your indulgence of my experiments. They are the result of confining myself to my backyard during this pandemic, and I AM having fun. The temperature is rising, the COVID cases are decreasing, and I may venture out to a local pond this weekend. |

You have another masterpiece here. The color, slight haze near the top, treelike crystals, floating bubbles or worlds and the orb of sun present countless interpretations. I like Freddies it IS otherworldly with an undersea affect. There are many sprites in those drops. Another interpretation of the image is: The Creation. OR, a blast from the rabbit hole. The variations in clarity/sharpness of the bubbles/worlds generates depth and a 3D effect. I shall never again feel the pangs of guilt over my dirty windows. Thank you Karl!! |

I love this peek into a patch of woodland. The shapes, colors and textures are wonderful. Your stacking worked well. I assume you were on a tripod. The shadows suggest that a sunbeam was illuminating this patch of woods. I played with a tighter crop but in the end I felt that your version gave more of the feel of the woods. Are the white streaks on the leaf and on the blossoms highlights, or was it wet? Congrats on spotting those flowers, they are rather rare. |

This is a striking image. It really caught my eye. The diagonal line, blossoms and buds in threes and the asymmetry provided by the left-pointing blossom generate an excellent composition. The texture simulates a canvas and gives a painterly appearance. Your light layering is excellent and does indeed add depth. Well done. |

The similarity to "Starry Night" was mostly verbal, though both are night shots. I love your idea to bring out those dark branches. I will also try toning the light ones down. Many thanks.
