I love the scoop of the wings captured in this shot. Those white wings and the white head really stand out. The crop is a bit tight for me. I like the blue patches of water and might leave more of them in, and more negative space on the right. The trees on the right and shoreline on top in the original form a subtle frame that I like. |

What an interesting little fellow. I am not familiar with that bird. You captured him in action. I love the tuft of feathers he preened in his beak. I like the backlighting of the green leaves on top. I would try to locally tone down the bright patches on the right. |

That is a spectacular view! Your composition is excellent. The valley forms a leading line that meanders down among the mountains that flank it. I agree that enhancing the contrast is a good idea. I might even try making the green a bit greener. |

What a fine turtle! I like your crop. The sharp focus in the head and front foot are the attraction here. For me the rock in front, the spot on the shell, and the rock upper right are still too bright and pull my attention from the head. I would try local toning down of these areas. Great job blurring the upper left. Both versions of that foot work, but I like the water circle in the original. |

Oh Sharon, that series will be fascinating. Have you published an article? I would love to see it. |

The composition of the original is wonderful. The lines of rocks, trees, and water together with the inverted triangle formed by the mountain and tree line all converge on that bubbling waterfall. The processed image looks a bit blown out and lacks the punch of the original. I would try sharpening the original and preserving those dark foreboding areas. |

Beautiful image! Incredible the number of editing programs and tools we have today to enhance the artistry of our work. I think the image would be lovely as a gallery wrap. Your story of your role in the monarch's maturation is wonderful. It would be interesting to add images of the caterpillars, chrysalises and the monarch dry and in flight to your grouping. |

Sharon, thank you so much for your tips. I had not thought of removing the polarizer as I was trying for good water detail. I shall try all your suggestions. I never give up. |

So I went back with a tripod and he was still there. I used my previous settings. I imported into LR then opened it from LR in Topaz Sharpen where I selected Standard and tweaked the sliders just a bit. THEN from LR I opened it in Topaz Gigapixel wherein I cropped and set it to 4X. I sent it back to LR and then to PS to remove some offending branches. In PS I sized and exported it. |

This image does indeed speak autumn like a fine painting. The layered colors and textures contribute to the pleasing composition. Were you on a tripod? Polarizing lens? Where were you standing with respect to the water? |

Great interpretation of an abstract image. The red earing conjured a drop of blood, and then I immediately saw the heart's four chambers. The symmetry of the shadows matches that of the white iron, but is offset by the angle of the light. You have created a canon on the unison in 4/4 with a tempo of 60 beats to the quarter note. |

Great game! How about in-camera vertical motion of a physical therapist's rack of exercise bands. |

You have turned an ordinary photo into an interesting geometric abstract. The color smudges dont work for me. I prefer a clean pen and ink effect. At the point where the leaves begin unfurl I cant help but see Snoopy ice skating with outstretched legs and arms and ears. And he is smiling! |

Karl, many thanks for your great suggestions. Yes, this image has many lives. I will try to add those you mentioned. I have never used (or seen) that PS Drop Shadow tool so I will learn about it--and the geometry of perspective. The challenge will be that the web is back lighted by the sun. |
