The bright orange beak draws me into the image, and then I see that blue eye. The low key has the effect of making me feel as if I were peeking into the hidden world of this nest builder. The tone and color on the wing feathers match perfectly those of the twigs and sticks and lead my eye around the image. I like LC's flip and crop. I agree with Sharon that this is a very artistic image. |

The mother's fierce protective instinct shines through this great image. Pity the cat that attempts to dine on that chick. The earthy colors of the feathers blend well with the underbrush and lend visual protection. Great story. |

AMAZING shot and story. The image is tack sharp. My eye is led along the underside of the bird to that remarkable red eye and beak tip. I agree with Mike and Sharon that mystery can be a powerful element. I would definitely go with the tighter crop to enhance the mystery. I love the shadow of the ear. The juxtaposition of the abstract ear with the natural bird is very pleasing. |

Wonderful colors and lines. The trees form a "V" that with the darker line of rolling hills in the background forms a nice triangular element of the composition. I love Mike's "squish". This concept and technique are new to me. Thanks Mike. I like the depth that the trees in the foreground provide. I also like the dead trees/branches. For me they add life to the image. |

Beautiful complementary colors, and lines. The parallel vertical lines in the hill that slopes gently from the right lead my eyes into the hill behind and center with parallel horizontal lines. The wispy clouds above repeat the horizontal line element. I agree with Mike's suggestion to crop the top. I also like a crop of the bottom that gives an impressionistic panorama. |

WONDERFUL image! The bird is caught in mid flight with tack sharp body and just a hint of motion in the wings. The dominant color green is carried through the leaves, background and is picked up in the speckled feathers of the bird. The complementary orange and yellow flowers pop. The orange flowers in the lower right lead diagonally up to the cluster of flowers flanked by leaves, and then right to the hummer. This strong compositional diagonal is enhanced by Mike's crop. Are you pleased with the Canon R5? It is time for me to upgrade from my Canon 80 D into the mirrorless world and the R 5 has been calling to me. |

Thank you Lisa. I will try your suggestions. Also I hope that I can have another opportunity to shoot in fog soon. I used a wide open aperture to gather what little light there was. I now realize that a f 16 would bring more in focus. Next time Ill try camera on tripod and f 16. |

Well, but aren't the animals all under water? I do see reds and orange, and the blue just looks different. Or the blue ones really redder? What do you think? |

Amazing how much like dahlias these animals look. Great job of shooting through the glass. Did you use a polarizer filter? The colors are beautiful. What generated the blue? |

Wonderful image. The play of light on the water and the sun star (redundant I know) take my eyes to the distant island. The simple color pallet and the presence of both abstract and real elements holds my attention. I can feel the motion of the boat in those choppy waters. Did you use a polarizing filter? |

I see that dog and he most certainly is diving. Great shot! What software did you use for processing? |

Spectacular image! What is the high speed sync you used? Did you process in photoshop? I am familiar with twisting in PS, BUT what is that Flaming Pear flood filter? Is that what generated the "water"? |

Thank you for pointing out that fog SHOULD be soft, and for all your suggestions. I will experiment with them.
