52 Dec 20 Comment That Kite is leaping right out of the canvas. The claw, beak, and intense stare leave no doubt of his intent. The power in those wings, the detail in the feathers, AND those wonderful ripples add to the action. What a great catch on your part--and I bet that Kite got his. Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Comment Great catch of that wingspan, extended legs, furled feathers. Excellent detail in the birds features. As others have suggested, the water is a bit too bright. I do love the dancing bokeh circles. Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Comment Oh Ally, I just want to give him a big hug. I think he is remembering his world before the humans came. That wonky eye a highlight of the image for me; it reflects his character. Great detail, textures and colors. Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Comment Wow! This image is all about the water for me. I would try moving the crop down to include more of those wonderful ripples and cut off the bank altogether. Great detail in the feathers. I just read the other comments and I like Mike's crop and color tones. Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Comment Wonderful composition. The multiple leading lines that converge on the lone tree, the contrasting textures, the green, and that dramatic sky create feelings of action and motion within an overall restful sense of minimalism. Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Comment Sharon, that stately elk has earned his fearless stance. Your crop is excellent and frames his antlers artfully. The detail, textures and warm colors are realistic and pleasing. I also like Mike's portrait crop. He seems to be looking at you with one eye. How close were you? Dec 24th
52 Dec 20 Reply Well it just appeared as if by magic. I really like what you have done, especially the edge sharpening. I have not used that. Is it in LR? Many thanks!! Dec 13th
52 Dec 20 Reply Sharon, your version sounds intriguing and I would love to see it. Sadly I cannot. Is it posted? Thank you so much for working on it! Dec 13th

79 Dec 20 Comment It is pleasing to know that beautiful white swans do not shy from muddy waters. I like to think that he was playing. The monochrome worked well here. Thank you for sharing this great moment in swan behavior. Dec 26th
79 Dec 20 Comment Karl, viewing your image reminded me of the experience of looking at an "I Spy" 3-D image on a flat page: you have to stare at it a while, and ever so slowly move closer to the page. Then, suddenly birds appear to fly right out of the book. So it was for me with your image. The transformation of the leaves into a bird first appeared. Then, slowly, a yin-yan symmetry emerged in which a post or curve of the headboard was juxtaposed against its shadow. And then the parallel lines of the blinds' shadows kicked in. I too am fascinated by shadows and, when formed by sunlight, their transience. Thanks for sharing this one. Dec 26th
79 Dec 20 Comment You have created an amazing image with your iphone and post processing. Your triptych would make a wonderful holiday card. The framing is perfect. I especially love your having found the inspiration that awaits us if we but open our eyes and see, and you captured it with "the camera you had". Your image is a powerful reminder that magic is within us. Dec 26th
79 Dec 20 Comment Great idea to create a motion abstract with your beautiful Christmas bouquet. The color is perfect for the season. I find my eyes roaming the canvas and seeking just a speck of focus. The central whorl of rose petals would be a perfect resting place. You could add focus to this area in several ways. You could delay your zoom a bit, or you could take a double exposure: set the camera on a tripod to prevent camera motion, then take one exposure with sharp focus and no zoom, and a second exposure with the zoom. In photoshop isolate the central in focus whorl, merge it with the zoom, and adjust transparency. I love these zooming experiments. May 2021 provide many opportunities for more. Dec 26th
79 Dec 20 Comment The high key light, subtle colors, and impressionist effect of the motion combine to generate a pleasing and interesting image. Are those three women going to work, or to market? I would try cropping the image to remove the three building units on the right. They are not essential to the story, and they compete for my attention. I really love your experiments with motion! Dec 26th
79 Dec 20 Comment The colors are warm and very pleasing, and I love the glow coming from the underlying grasses. The sense of motion is wonderful, and I can almost feel the wind. The bird and boat fit well into the scene, but are not essential to the composition. They do alter the affect a bit. I love the original. It has mystery and a that feel of minimalism. With a slight tweak to bring out a few of the subtle details it will be a very different but equally splendid image. Dec 26th
