This bunny reminds me of school children at halloween showing off their false fangs. The image is tack sharp, the crop is perfect, the green in the background bokeh and grass in the foreground and his mouth encourages my eye to dance around his comical expression. This image deserves to serve as the subject of a children's picture book. |

That face!! Priceless. And the eyes, the stream of water escaping his lips and reflected in the water and the detail in the hair and hand are wonderful. The crop is perfect. I would not change a thing. |

Wonderful action shot. Amazing detail and timing. The splash of the water, the flip of of fish, the determination in the eye of the eagle, and the outstretched body soaring upwards tell a powerful story. I like Sharon's adjustment; it brings out the shadow of the spectacle in the water below. I would change nothing else. |

You captured a beautiful rose in its prime! I like your composition, the complementary colors, the textures, and of course the water droplets. I much prefer the original in which the leaves show greater detail, the water droplets and wet spots are more evident, and the color/brightness/luminosity are more pleasing to my eye. In my view, the slight imperfection in the upper petal in the original adds interest and realism. I would not have altered it. |

What a wonderful story of rebirth. I love the orange and purple flowers against the rust-colored stems and multi-hued greens. The processed brightened version comes to life compared with the original. However the logs are to my eye as well as other's far too bright. They create tension and hold my eye back from traveling to the volcano. I would selectively restore them to their original brightness/luminosity. |

Sharon, thank you for including the top view image. Butterflies are amazing in their mimicry. Those blue wings blend in well with the sky and foil avian predators that might swoop in from above for a treat. My initial reaction to the image was in accord with the other comments: the blurred branches left and right were distracting, the butterfly was too dark, corrective post processing would be at best tricky. Now that the butterflies have discovered your bush you might try setting your camera on a tripod, focusing on an uncluttered branch, and waiting for one to land within your field of focus. A thought on torn wings and dead spots on flowers: they can add interest and inspire stories. A final thought: a wonderful nature story lies in the differences in the top and underside of those wings as you demonstrated with two photographs. Now if two butterflies with different wing positions settled on that uncluttered branch--- |

There are many stories in this image of a freedom flag unfurling in a stormy and unnatural sky shared by free-flying birds. The square crop works well here. |

Susan, powerful image! What a great photo opportunity. Monochrome is perfect for this image. The blur you added not only hints of the patient's medicated fog, it also gives the feeling of traveling back into the history of this institution. The figure you captured has a ghost-like appearance that intensifies the dark affect. WELL DONE! |

Marie, you have taken a documentary image of treasured things and created a visualization of the essence of memory. The deep red bathes the image with a strong affect of love and security, while the dreamlike textures and fading convey the feeling of moments past. The density-graded frame enhances the effect of seeing through a time portal. Beautiful tribute! |

Valerie, you found a wonderful scene. The mysterious barred window is fascinating. When I look behind the bars on the lower right I see two skulls peering out. The graffiti add to the ambiance. I like the footpath. It does add a layer of color, and the shape of the square grates in the path is repeated in the small square in the upper left of the wall, and the fan(?) in the window. My eyes are pulled to the green fern, and then to the bricks. It would be interesting to remove the fern and see what emerges. |

Karl, perfect title, great capture of the power. The light layers and subtle colors add to a feeling of mystery--and for me unease. I feel drawn into those dark swirling waters. While many photographers generate images of "silk" water I have always preferred images in which the patterns made by the splashes of plunging water. |
