I love the inclusion of the colony. I would include even more of it. In the original the birds at the left are more distinct than those on the right. I would relax the crop to include the left side of the original. Doing so would also give the bird more space into which to fly. |

MAGNIFICANT, and incredible sharpness for a hand held macro lens. The color is great and the hint of foliage behind the moth is perfect. I would not alter any aspect of this wonderful image. |

John, you have captured a moment in the domestic life of these parents. Your image conveys well the secluded position of the nest within the greenery. The nest, eggs and feathers are in good focus. My eyes go right to those eggs and then travel along a triangle formed by the eggs and the white feathers on the two heads. |

Lisa, what a magical place and graceful bird. I love the squiggley reflections of the tall grass blades in the water in the original version and I would not crop it. I also like the direction of the original. The image seems a bit dark. Eliminating the vignette would help. The bird seems a bit soft, and I cannot see the yellow in the eye to which you refer. I like your elimination of the dark ripples at the top of the original. With a bit more AND less editing I think you will have a wonderful image. |

Wonderful sky. The colors make we want to get out a canvas and paint. I much prefer your original image as the sky colors are more intense, and the dark mountain adds contrast and mystery. |

Sharon, your image is indeed elegant. The golden wings against that blue sky are beautiful. I like Mike's adjustments. I also like the original. You really have two images here and either one would look great in exhibit. |

Susan, I really love your original image. For me the overexposed version lacks detail in the decay and wonderful hardware that I find fascinating in the original. What is that interesting circle/hole at the lower right of the door? |

STUNNING! I am thinking sequel to "The Matrix". I search for Men in Black. The lines are amazing; the line of golden stairs intersects the line of lights coming in from lower left; the stair pattern is repeated in the dark stack top middle between the building and ledge; the presence of the red subject provides perspective and conveys the immensity of the site. Where were you and your camera to capture this remarkable image? |

Marie, I love peonies, and I love to photograph them. I have a peony garden with many varieties. Your image has the charm of a Renaissance painting on canvas, and it conveys the joy of Spring. |

Great job bringing out the detail in the mountain, and contrast. I love the rich warm color in the foreground, but I also love the monochrome version that Karl created. I would love to see this area in person. |

Mary, the colors, tones, and light are wonderful. The red hat just pops and draws the eye right to the subject. The dark and gnarled trees in back of the gate give a sense of mystery. Within the bilious white cloud I see at least three faces that enhance the feeling of foreboding. Looking at the old suitcase the subject is carrying brought to mind the plight of immigrants. Is she closing the gate and leaving the dark terrors behind, or about to open the gate and enter the mirky troubles that might await her in a new land? Your image is a powerful prompt for the imagination. Well done! |
