52 Sep 18 Comment I love this image. This bird struts with a purpose. The wings and that piercing eye immediately capture my attention. The strong parallel and intersecting lines of the wings and head generate a feeling of power and movement, but at the same time the image makes me smile. I would try to darken the bright band of water at the top of the image. It draws my eye from the bird. Sep 15th
52 Sep 18 Comment I keep studying this image. The light on the wheat bristles is wonderful. I love the soft earth tones and bokeh background, against the sharp wheat bristles in the foreground. The image has both an abstract and minimalist feel to it. It shows me a frozen instant in a small section of a magical place. I would not change it. Sep 15th
52 Sep 18 Comment Wonderful mist capture. Did you use a polarizing filter? The rocks on the left form a line that, together with the line formed by the white water between the rocks on the left and the large rock on the right, leads my eye to the bright tree just off upper center. But the bright shrubbery on the very upper left tends to distract this motion. I would try a crop on the left that would remove that shrub and dead branch to the left of the big rock on the left. 52 Sep 18 Comment That eye pops!! The vignette works well. I would like to see more of his face, and I agree that the mouth/nose could be brightened. I love the crop. It generates an abstract look in which the snake's body resembles a Mobius Strip. The fading focus in back of the head adds depth and suggests that while this animal is resting, he is also poised to strike. Sep 15th
52 Sep 18 Comment Watching wild animals play is always a happy moment, and you captured this one well! I love the kits' intensity, the staring eyes of the grey fox, the contrasting colors and ying yang of their bodies. The bright upper background draws my eyes away from the kits. I like the darker background in Mike's version. Sep 15th
52 Sep 18 Comment I love everything about this image! The soft earth tone colors are peaceful and inviting. The low angle, long reflections, and depth add a sense of mystery. AND--the tree in the foreground is tack sharp. I also love the original version. It VERY difficult to choose between them, BUT I prefer the landscape (original) version. It gives the illusion of greater distance between the viewer and the foreground tree, and it add much more depth and mystery. Sep 15th
52 Sep 18 Reply You are quite right. I had Halloween and Ben Johnson's Witches and frogs in mind when I edited this image. I will try alternatives as suggested. Thanks. Sep 12th

79 Sep 18 Comment Marvelous abstract. I love the colors, detail and depth. That leaf indeed takes on many aliases. It is a boot kicking its way from the icy waters; an alien cyclops rearing its head above the icee to peer at me. But my first impression was that of a chunk of a canal-laced planet exploded from a universe of galaxies. This image would serve as a wonderful prompt for a short story workshop. Sep 26th
79 Sep 18 Comment Wonderful image full of interpretations and presentations. I agree that ones eyes dance around, but I rather like the journey. I like the contrast that the church gives to the darkness. Without it my eyes still dance happily about the lights in windows, water, and traffic
. I also love the B&W version; it would be great for a B&W competition.

79 Sep 18 Comment You have produced a wonderful dreamy effect. The colors are soft and pleasing -- and very autumnal. You have succeeded well in transforming a "postcard" scene into an impressionistic image. I especially like the depth generated by the mountains in the background. Sep 26th
79 Sep 18 Comment What I see in her gaze is wonderment--at how strange we are. This is a powerful image. I agree that the image could be lightened a bit, and the eye brightened. I like the B&W version. It generates a different feeling. I do believe the color version is more powerful. You have captured a remarkable close encounter. Sep 24th
79 Sep 18 Comment This is a fascinating photograph that offers endless possibilities. The image works well as a B&W high key. I would love to see several variations: 1. The girl's jeans in the original highlight the playful and dreamy nature of the moment you captured. The presence of the skirt generates a feeling of dress rehearsal. I would like to see the original version with the jeans as the B&W high key. 2. The colors of the flowing scarves in the original are wonderful. I might try placing the two figures in B&W on a white background, AND keeping the colors of the scarves. I believe this would produce a dramatic effect. However you finally present it, it is wonderful image.

79 Sep 18 Reply I do that upon occasion. Ill show you one Friday. This rose was in my garden and I try not to remove anything until early Spring lest I disturb the winter scene. Snow piled on dried roses is beautiful.
