Thanks Tom! I did use the image for my Christmas card. Thanks especially for commenting on snowflakes! Catching them as they fall was one of my major goals. Now I cant wait till the next snowstorm to try the suggestions I received. |

Many thanks Sharon! You are right: I shot this one through a window. AND I did use it for my Christmas card. My family and friends loved it. Thanks for suggesting the rotary tool. I was not familiar with it. I have much to learn! I am so ready for the next snow storm.

Thanks Mike! I was indeed about 20 feet away. I was intent on catching some flakes falling and I chose the wide aperture thinking it would give me the light I needed at the high speed (it was a dim day). I will experiment with your suggested adjustments. Next snowfall I will set up and try manual focus with a smaller aperture. Thanks also for the suggestion to use the image as a Christmas card. I did and my friends and family really loved it. |

Oh the poor poor starfish. I hope he hasn't given up! I had no idea the gull mouth could stretch so. This is a remarkable photo. The detail on the bird and fish is wonderful. Two bright spots in back of the bird's head pull my eye into the background; could they be toned down a bit? |

This tree has attitude!! The dark blue sky, the play of light on the tiny twigs, and the gnarled branches are reminiscent of the wompus tree in the Harry Potter novels. I The image has me longing to see the whole tree. |

What a fine example of vanishing point, leading lines, and reflections! And symmetry. This is the practically perfect landscape! |

A great slice of nature! The crop is perfect and yields a fine composition. I agree with those who suggested more pop. I like what Mike presented. It took me a while to realize that the white blurs were flying birds. A faster shutter speed to stop the motion might have given a nice effect. The white in the birds generates a leading line that guides my eye to the white in the horse. The reflections are a great bonus. |

The horse is great! I love the flair of his mane and the hoof action. The image is so charming that the watercolor effect seems unnecessary. When I first looked at the image I thought perhaps you had photographed through a partially fogged car window. If the blur is the result of post processing you might consider either removing it, or exaggerating it to give a look of peering through the glove-cleared section of a window covered with ice crystals or snow. I also would remove the lumber that appears to be jutting out of the horses belly. |

WONDERFUL! I can almost hear him singing. The bird is tack sharp, the eye has the catch light, and the grasses/leaves in the bokeh background place him in his environment while allowing him to stand out. I would not change a thing. I especially love that you left the stalk in the image and dealt with it by adjusting the contrast and clarity. That is a technique I will incorporate. |
