This is a fun and sweet moment captured, Karen. I like your image, and am wowed by anyone who can work with film in the darkroom.
Can you create a bit more dynamic range of values? For example for the woman on the left, you could have her blouse, the straps on her shoes, plus the reflected light on her sunglasses all "pop" a bit more. Similarly, perhaps burn the background a bit to deemphasize the busy shapes and shadows.
Enjoy your class --- inspiring! |

Adorable. I love his little scraggly beard and the hairs on his delicate ears. What a contrast to his beefy (porky?) stature.
While I like the darker background, I think having a slight hint of the floor boards could add a bit of interest.
I agree that dodging his face overall and brightening his eyes would add just the right touch.
This last idea is a tiny one...perhaps burn the bright sliver on the lower left portion of his abdomen to keep the eye from getting stuck there.
Super photo, Jamie.

Misty, moody, mauve, Bai/
How do you do it? I think your images would make a super-cool coffee table book.
Because some of the neon signage is too bright/soft to read, perhaps deemphasize it a bit?
You have a great diagonal going from upper left to lower right.
I most enjoy the lower-center portion of the image where the cluster of buildings share similar rounded-square rooftops (perhaps glass?).

Super composition, Henry.
I'm missing the warmer red/orange tones a bit. What happens if you bump them up?
I wouldn't change the crop - nice rule of thirds and leading line, curving from the fierce crashing waves all the way to the mountain range and back to shore again.
I also think the top half of the photo makes a beautiful image in itself, highlighting the power of the wave crashes.
One last comment---it might be interesting in Lightroom to select "Auto" in the Transform menu, to see if the horizon line adjusts ever-so-slightly. It seems that the horizon line in the image currently tilts up-right by a half degree.
Lovely image, and I'll be it was an invigorating day at the beach! |

Interesting abstract, Andrew. I can imagine myself in the room, weaving in and out of the art installations. I might remove the left-most 10th of the image, up to the left-most edge of the foreground sculpture's platform.
I like the high-key background against the grain of the focal point. |
