It is my "understanding" that the McKenzie ancestors owned the land at the time of burial. I am also of the opinion no "legal" provision was made at the time of sale to preserve the graves. In those days things were "understood" and people did what was morally right.
Times have changed. |

There are contrast issues in the shot that I could not fix. If I go back, I'll pack a tripod and attempt to re shoot this as a HDR.
Not far from this scene, are 3 of my ancestor's graves, which managed to get in the way of some farmer's progress. The graves are now lost to his crop field. 25 years ago, the headstones were found along the side of the road, after a rededication ceremony a couple months before. I guess after someone is dead for excess of 100 years, all their rights decay with the body, also. |

Nice work. If possible maybe include more of the arch in the foreground, and lower the brightness level a touch. |

What Elizabeth suggested. I'd try to burn in the foreground a bit, and milk some more red out of the bare slope in the center of the image. Maybe adjusting the brightness and contrast a bit would help, too. |

You hit the target with this one. The only thing I might do differently, is burn in the far rear slope. Cool shot. |

Nice work. Looks like what I had in mind when all my attempts at night photography failed. |

Follow up on using swabs and alcohol for sensor cleaning: I used some medical applicators and 99% rubbing alcohol on the D800e sensor. Shot some scenes today for Feb's submission. Dust and smear marks on the sensor were almost as big as the tires on my pickup. The images were pathetic.
I don't think I'll be trying that idea again. |

Yes, the HDR technique allowed for interior detail to show up. (The Plus 2 exposure, I think.) Aurora had an upgrade for this version, and I was finally able to download and install it. The Internet provider in my neighborhood can only run at 12 megabit per second. (Bit, not Byte)
I went looking for sensor tools at the local store. The staff informed me they only use alcohol and q tips to clean their sensors. I tried it on the D2x. Nothing melted, yet. Have not made any exposures, yet, so don't know it the stuff works. Have not had the guts to try it on the D800e yet.
Living in a country, small town is different. When I was shopping online for sensor cleaning gear, some of the stores wanted as much for shipping as they were charging for the tool. B&H had the best price, but they were still stout. Of course, I shopped B&H on a Saturday. Great timing.
Second opinions on the alcohol technique welcome. |

Great image. I've always prefered authentic scenes, but in this case, it probably would not hurt to remove the Mic Ports.

Nice. All it needs is a pixie sitting on the rock.
