This portrays the overwhelming domination of man by nature, despite what one hears about how we are ruining the planet. Man vs the wild -- not a fair fight. I love the videos you see on YouTube now and then that show what would happen if all humans disappeared suddenly -- in no time nobody would know we were even here. Alright -- enough of the soap box stuff. Maybe the windmill could be moved over toward the right of the composition, and the crop at top could be moved down a little. But, nice portrayal of, as you say, beautiful desolation. |

Nice placement of the building, and interesting cloud formations. I think my main complaint, as has been noted, is with the overexposure of the whites in the lighthouse. Since it's a sunny day, perhaps the reds could be a saturated a bit more. |

Very minimalist image, but effective. The cacti seem to waving farewell to the dying of the day. The 'fuzzy' cactus on the right side could be eliminated, either by editing or cropping. Creative effort. |

Nice colors and all sorts of slashing diagonal lines shown off by the darkened background. I'm not sure, but I think you captured the bird's "feathers" and not the bill, which is going off the bottom of the image. Could you have taken this shot from a lower angle? |

You did a fine job cropping down this image. Even though she is relatively small she really stands out as the subject, especially with the bright colors, yet does not overwhelm the composition but instead contrasts nicely with the greens in the background. Nice visual line starting in the upper right and heading down to the left through the girl and then on to the lit tree in front of the her. Could the face be brightened up a bit? Would make a nice greeting card. |

Does anyone see a small dog in this image? Probably just me. I do agree that the white flowers are somewhat blown out, but overall the exposure is good. This is a creative still life. In terms of the overall composition I think the size of the flowing cloth is pretty much balanced out by the white flowers. The "Z" pattern in the background on the left could be toned down somewhat. |

Great presentation of this beautiful bird. The bokeh of the background and of course the capture of the worm really adds to the image. Cropping in a little more, as suggested by Bruce, is an alternative to consider. Well done! |

Hi Maria -- I'm afraid I'm going to have to dissent from the others. The subject of this image is the robin, and here it's pretty much dominated by the background, which is very busy and full of bright objects. I think in this case you didn't have enough lens. |

Nice diagonal pose of this majestic Osprey, enhanced by the graceful positioning of the wing tip feathers. You brought out the under wing detail from the shadowy original. You might try brightening the face somewhat, or at least the eyes. Considering there is no direct lighting, you did well with this image. |

Steve -- very nice pose; I like the slight angle of the body and the branch below that juts out at an angle that runs parallel with the eagle. Nice details in the feathers, and the way they puff out. Great stare. The only thing is I wish there could be more illumination and contrast from the face, where some important detail is missing. |

Very good capture with the wings in highest extension and everything framed by the soft background. Of course, the snake makes the story telling aspect compelling. Maybe the overall color palette is a bit too much yellow. Good job! |

The blurred background shows off this well detailed bird effortlessly gliding along. Nicely exposed, and the ambient light makes for a shot that is not overly contrasty. Also, the bird came by at just the right height so it seems as if you are flying alongside in formation. |
