Going by the title of your image, there does seem to be just a hint of autumn, as Joe points out. By focusing on the large tree trunks, one might be left with the impression that it could be any time of year. The trunks do present an interesting, if static, set of repeating patterns. The overall color balance and exposure is OK. |

Very well done with the vertical orientation and balancing the foreground reflection with the actual lighthouse. Nice conversion of the sky. I wonder if you selected out the sky and inverted it so that every thing else could be brightened a little, would it bring out more detail? Having said this, I acknowledge that it could just be my monitor. |

Very nicely done, Joe. It's a pleasure to move around the image with its many interesting visual points. The line of musicians, all looking at the bass player as you say, provides an effective diagonal line. I love the contrast of textures between the road and the wall, and in the absence of direct sunlight the exposure benefits from a soft box feel. I see you "plumbed" the window very well. Maybe a bit too much negative space in the upper left? Perhaps a small wall hanging composited from another image could balance that out -- a minor point. What if you cropped down to just a little above the bass? |

The trees on the left and right do provide framing for the peak out in the distance. The sky replacement is effective and the image does have a painterly look to it, but overall there may be a bit too much saturation. Nice composition. An empty road disappearing behind the trees adds a touch of mystery. |

Good capture of the jay's stance. Nice and sharp, with good detail in the eye. I think the background is too bright and colorful and this distracts from the bird, which is on the dark side. One possibility to correct this is to select the bird and tree stump, invert the selection, darken and maybe blur it, then invert back to the subject and brighten it in order to bring out more detail. Also, perhaps crop in from the left and right so that the negative space is lessened. |

I like the intersecting lines of the vertical reeds in the background and the horizontal ripples in the water. Every thing is sharp, if a little over saturated -- especially the greens. The swans do have a decidedly gray/silver cast to them, even if they are in the shade. Nice reflections in the water. Interesting story telling. |

Interesting final color palette -- except for the feet this could almost be a monochrome image. The waves in the front have a different looking silver gray, (almost like mercury), look to them. I like the way that you captured the motion of the bird with its wings and legs spread out, displaying a hunting attitude. The head could stand some more lightening in order to bring out more detail. Nice bokeh -- the bird stands out well from the background. |

The body of the bird could be brightened up a bit in order to reveal more detail. Also crop in from the left to get the bird off of dead center. Nice and sharp, and separated from the background well. |

Beautiful pale blue and white coloring. A bird holding on to nesting material always adds to the composition. Sharp, with the underside of the outstretched wings exposed well. Perhaps a little too much negative space on the right? Good effort. |

Very nice image! Vertical orientation just right, and the colors are handled well with the soft box lighting. Sharp, with great bokeh background. Intersecting diagonal lines. The pose of the bird gazing upward adds to the visual interest, and everything is topped off with the moth having just been captured. Bon Appetit! |
