Amazing what cell phones can do today, and the technology is really just beginning. I had a similar flooding incident several years ago, and it wasn't from a hurricane -- just days of steady rain. And it wasn't in my backyard but in my front, where the water level stopped just short of my front door and covered everything over to my across the street neighbor's door -- road, side walk and lawn completely submerged. It was at least two days before I could get out of my driveway. |

At first glance I thought it might be an IR shot, and that aspect adds a particular feel to the image. It's great that you spotted the line of posts that zig one way and then back to the subject area. This shot might not have worked at all if it had been a sunny day. Maybe crop down a little so that the trees are not quite in the middle while at the same time emphasizing the line of posts. Nicely done! |

For me, fog shots are among my favorites, and you have a nice one here. If you don't mind, I played around a bit with your image -- mainly by eliminating some of the bright mass of clouds which may by providing too much negative space. As well, I boosted a bit of the color and darkened a little the cloud area above the trees. |

I love the drama. I think I've seen something like this just once while driving through Iowa. Storms in Florida have a different look, like some giant gray-black blob. I think here perhaps too much contrast has been applied -- you can see the halos surrounding the telephone poles. Also, and I am not exactly sure how to correct for this, (would really have to fool around with this in the editor) the huge blown out area detracts from the overall image. |

Thar she blows! Very dynamic look to this image, especially with the wind-blown trees. All of the elements together -- the trees, crashing waves and the angry sky in the background make me glad that I'm not out on the water. Feels very cold. Good job!. |

Never heard of mammatus clouds, you learn something everyday.I do like both versions -- they both look other-worldly each in their own way. I also like the contrast between the amorphous shape of the clouds and the spindly appearance of the trees. For some reason I get a feeling of approaching Halloween night. Looking for the headless horseman ... |

Beautiful lighting and color balance. Great bokeh and dark background sets off the storks perfectly. It's easy to miss the exposure by just a little bit and blow out the whites, and you've avoided doing that here. Since the pair are the stars of the show, maybe you could crop in more. Great picture by way of 'introducing' yourself as our newest member! |

I quite agree - a very short interval of time can make or break a shot. |

Small(ish) birds are quite hard to capture because they dart around so quickly, and I usually give up in frustration. Here you did a really good job of catching it in perfect sharpness and pose. The wings are fully extended and as a bonus there are interesting radiating patterns under the wing, and the sun angle shows that off. I can't believe the bird finds a place to land amidst all those needles. Color balance is spot on. Great! |

You caught this scene at exactly the right moment. Great story telling. I like very much the position of all the heads focusing in on their meal, particularly the chicks. Do you have a follow-up shot that shows the hand off of the fish? Well done! |

Good work with the presentation of the bird, and in particular the eye. It seems that there may be too much of blue color balance, although I can see that it is in the shade. |

You captured this bird in flight well. The only thing I would add is that you could eliminate a large part of the sky, in that all this negative space does not add to the overall composition. Still, a nice action shot. |

Beautiful image, Bruce. Nice and sharp with well done bokeh.Overall good light/dark balance and earth tone colors show off the bird and its environment. Maybe add a slight catch light in the eye? Very nice image. This could be used to illustrate a glossy nature book. |
