As I was scanning the image I find that my eye was drawn to the figure on the left. In a very subtle way it adds the human element into what otherwise would be a vast and barren vista. I think this works. I think Marti is on to something concerning the sun flare, but I'm not quite sure what it is. Was it meant to be a lens flare or sun rays? Regardless, a very good effort with an atmospheric feel. |

Well done with the background. I agree with Marti that there may be too much negative space on either side, so maybe the sides can be brought in a little while also leaving the bird slightly off center. |

Joe -- one method I use requires a bit of patience. In Photoshop or Elements I bring the image way in, almost to the pixel level. Then I take the clone stamp tool (experimenting with hard or soft brush setting and very small size) and move the tool along the edge (at this level you'll really notice the "halo") and cloning the dark part just far enough to cancel out the halo. It can seem like it takes forever but using your image here as an example, it will only require a few minutes. |

You don't often see colored in statues, so this is unique. As I find that my eyes almost always go to the brightest part of an image, here, the umbrella is too distracting. You can compare the way the umbrellas in the painting are treated -- much darker -- and the rainy day offers a nice soft box ambience. Your picture would have benefited from a passing cloud or even taken later in the day. Or darkening the umbrellas in editing. |

A horse is a horse of course of course ... unless it's given a different look by you. Maybe a little too much negative space on the right (gray) side. But, overall, a good effort, with lots of opportunity for playing around with the various parts of the image. |

You've come up with a very nice alternative vision. This could be the landscape and background for a sci fi movie. The greenish glow hugging the mountains gives off an other worldly look. I might have cropped down along the top and bottom so as to include more of the reflection and less of the sky. Fine job! |

Agreement with both comments. The overall color balance seems to be spot-on. Nice contrast and sharpness. Simple but elegant. |

I like your story about the bird being in a pensive mood, mostly because of the dreary weather -- here, you carry it off well. Sort of like one of us gazing out the window during a rain storm. This will betray my bias toward playing around with an image, but perhaps removing a lot of the foliage surrounding the bird's upper torso will allow more of the bird to be emphasized. Just a thought ... |

Great capture of the eagle's fierce and determined facial expression. The background shows off the bird really well. The streaks in the water add to the sense of motion. Just me, but I would experiment with cropping in more. A bit more contrast? |

Bruce's suggestion is a good one, and is really easy if you use Camera Raw. I think as well that you can crop in more from the top and right to further emphasize the subject. Put a catch light in the eye? |

Great job! Background bokeh perfect, with everything else nice and sharp. Eye well done. The only thing that occurs to me is for you to bring in the right side a bit so that the bird is not so centered. |
