Terrific shot! I love the interlocking curves formed by the snake and the heron. The angle of the lighting emphasizes the modeling/form of both creatures. Sure looks like a titanic struggle. Did you get any pictures of the bird making a meal of the snake ?
Contest worthy image -- well done! |

Very nice, sharp reflection shot. Great subtle coloration. I'm going to disagree with Cindy in that I think cropping in some more would benefit the composition. Other than that, very little to criticize. Beautiful image. |

Having not been there I can't tell for sure but I suspect that the oranges are too saturated. As mentioned previously, there is probably too much negative space on the right, which doesn't add to the composition. You could use the clone tool to get rid of the white spot on the lower left. And, try extending the left side of the image so the duck on the left is not crowding that edge. |

Very nice shot -- it captures the elegance of this rather large bird. I like the way that your shutter speed captured the upturned wing tips. I agree with Bruce's point about darkening the background somewhat, and while you're at it you might experiment with motion blur in the background as well. Very good capture. |

Crystal clear focus on the eyes, and nice bokeh which allows the subject to really stand out. As an experiment, could you play with applying motion blur to the background to heighten the sense of flying? |

Great background, color and focus. The eye contact is perfect, and I like the ungainly gait, almost as if some of the berries he had eaten had gone hard! The vertical orientation is well chosen. |
