If Mike's piece is a symphony and Kaylin's is jazz, then yours is some heavy metal blasting out a hundred decibels. Tons of vibrant colors exploding out from the middle. It's in that middle where I do have a problem, and that is that I just don't see the matchup between the dancer and the background. Visually, it's as if a ballerina came on stage during a Rolling Stones concert. I like the treatment of the dancer's legs extending outside of the frame, but it's just as if she was placed there as an afterthought. Maybe a bit too much apples and oranges, or as the Brits like to say, chalk and cheese. |

Somewhat in the same vein as Kaylyn's composition. If hers is a jazz piece, yours is a symphonic tone poem. With the predominant yellows and greens, along with a hint of reddish brown, this could be a late summer day with autumn just around the corner. Subtle and even a bit soothing. |

Interesting that you and Mike had somewhat similar approaches to arriving at your abstracts. You both have vertically oriented striations but yours have sharp and streaky separations. Very colorful and rhythmic and energetic. |

Does anybody remember the song that was popular in (I think) the 50s? I recall it was 'Ghost Riders In The Sky,' and this has that kind of feel to it. Very ghostly while conveying furious action. Perhaps the treatment of the rider's face, where he seems to be wearing a mask, adds to the mystery. Maybe 'pristine' should be subdued or even removed. There's a thin white crescent coming off of the sign that kind of looks like a reflection or even lens flare. Overall, a really great effort!

Peggy, please don't hate me for this, but I actually prefer original number two just as it is, except maybe for the white area along the top. It's composition is well balanced and the subjects are more unified. It's very much an abstract and would look great printed on metallic paper. |

This is really good image; the diagonal row of three, connected by the fanciful swirls that give it a kind of dancing look. I agree with Joe that overall the picture could be brightened somewhat, especially the middle balloon. I love copper and would like to see that really shine through, maybe having it less obscured by the tail of the swirl. Very creative. |
