PS I like the placement of the bike on the yellow line -- it gives more of a sense of being grounded to the road surface, and adds to the feeling of movement. |

"Get your motor runnin,' head out on the highway ..." Fine shot of a man who appears to be doing exactly what he wants and probably wouldn't trade places with anyone. Not always easy to capture movement with a slow shutter speed and at the same time keeping the subject reasonably sharp, but you've done it here. This would make a good background for a magazine bike ad, or even an ad for Steppenwolf! Totally unrelated to the picture, I'm glad to see he is wearing a helmet -- a helmet more than likely saved my life, or at least prevented me from being crippled. |

I'm fifty fifty about cropping out the trees, but I would remove the horizontal streak in front of the trees -- perhaps a fence rail? I would favor removing the sheep on the left inasmuch as it is half cut off. That would still leave you with an odd number of subjects. Two dust spots above the middle sheep? Overall well done capture. |

Excellent conception and execution. The colors balance is very well done. I think the idea of dancers floating in air as if they are going around the May pole is imaginative and well carried off. Selecting out finer parts of any image is very labor intensive; there are lots of programs around that claim to be able to separate fine hairs, tree leaves and even bridal vales from backgrounds, but I find that their advertising is generally over promising. I'm not above cheating by using the clone tool with hard edge and set very small and creating wispy lines out from the hair to simulate the odd loose hair ... if you have the additional patience, that is. |

Mike and Marti pretty much covered the main points; I will add that you could experiment with a longer shutter speed to give the water a flowing movement, but that's just an alternative. Also, to really go off the deep end I tried converting it to b&w, but it didn't really work out all that well. |

Peggy -- have you tried experimenting with on-camera flash? With flash, the shutter speed would not matter, it would freeze any movement, no matter how fast. This would allow you to overcome any dark areas. Also, what size lens were you using? This would of course have an affect on your usable shutter speed. |

Your pictures stitched together well. I think the big tree in the foreground dominates the composition too much. The colors on the leaves in the trees appear a bit too muddy, and the sky might be a little too blue -- bring out more gray? On the other hand, it could be a hill side off in the distance. Some of the branches in the upper part of the sky seem to be floating in air. Maybe all the image lacks is some more contrast. |
