Mike -- I guess the devil made you it ... As you say, there's a nice contrast between the many spindly branches of the tree and the solid rock walls in the background. Could the tree be brightened up a bit, to make it stand out even more? Also, as I look at the original, I wonder if another separate picture could by made featuring the rock wall on the right -- I like how it's lit indirectly and has that growth on the top with almost a hair light look to it. |

Very creative spot, Joe. I like elements of both images, but the comparatively bright green foliage tends to pull the eye down to the lower corner in the original. In the final image, the lantern and its shadow balance each other off nicely. The strong vertical line running down the right side is countered by the strong diagonals from the lantern. My only (minor) complaint would be that the final image is a little too contrasty. Other than that, this is a really fine effort. |

Great coloring and nice composition. This certainly suggests the old American southwest. Probably my monitor, but the yellow between the door and the window seems a little bright. You did a really good job with the texture, as well as balancing the plants with the house. Looks to me that it might be a struggle to get through the door with that cactus standing guard! |

Nice that you didn't go overboard on the HDR, which so many tend to do. The column of water is where the eye tends to land on, both because of its brightness and because it suggests movement; perhaps you could have cropped down from the top a bit to more to further highlight the water. This would move it from dead center and allow a nice line from the flowers in the foreground to the fountain. |

The flower in the final image is well done, but I think that it could have been zoomed into, and not include the two stems in the background. It appears that you had enough detail so that it could have been made into a fine macro shot. |
