Thanks Joe. You might be right about the color of the sky. I'll play around with it. Also, anyone who has attended an airshow knows that the blueish cast in the contrails and "clouds" is because it is basically oil smoke. But, there is some sky in the background, and as you say maybe it could use some work. |

Hi Marti. Please see my reply to Lance. I agree with your comment about shutter speed, but the one time you can get away with high shutter speed is when the aircraft is at right angles to you, so that you only can see the props edge on. Then just a slight blurring, or maybe none at all, will do. |

Hi Lance -- thanks for your comments. Maybe I should apologize, but the reason that the "original" looks blurred (or out of focus) is because it is only a screen shot of the actual original, taken by zooming in on the file from PS Bridge. Since it is only for demonstration of the picture, I didn't think the resolution was all that important. In reality, I had plenty of shutter speed and this image only required a minimum of sharpening. |

I'm of two minds on this -- yes, in a sense it is taking an unusual and creative look at an everyday event, but can it actually be thought of as an abstract image? The sky, clouds, and confetti are realistically portrayed, so that they are recognizable, but presented in a way that suggests some type of abstraction. Perhaps an abstract realism, if there can be such a thing? I do very much like the white, blue and black color combinations. This might also appear to be a cascade of thermal heat shield tiles floating to the ground. This last part is definitely an inside joke, if any of you have been following the latest development of Elon Musk's Starship. |

I see this as a nice use of your imagination and I think you intended a complete fantasy look and feel. This could be a science fiction type of image, as if the child was being captured in a force field and is about to be sent to a mysterious dimension. Beam me up, Scotty! Apart from the effects, I enjoy looking at the way you have handled the composition, which has essentially three parts: the dark mud, the light sand receding off into the distance, and of course, the child. I like also the subtle neutral colors -- the sand and pale blues go well together. One could argue that you should try avoiding taking shots of the subject from behind, but I think it works here. |

Even though the gondolier is not all that visible, I still think it adds to the image because it implies a story line of a person doing something. Beautiful leading lines going from front to back and demonstrating that they lead to a place in the distance. Perhaps the bridge could be darkened somewhat, as Al suggests, so that it doesn't overpower the walls. The glare in the water does lead to the gondolier, but it also makes it appear to be trash floating in the water. Is the wall on the right a little too blue, or even purple? Still, an interesting shot. |

Great colors Al, and a V shape as well as the rule of thirds (with the foreground, lines of trees and then the clouds) is also present. On my monitor a couple of the cloud tops appear to be blown out. Overall, a well done landscape. |

Very nice fall image -- beautiful colors and nice details. The roughness of the old chair really adds to the image by 'supporting' the pumpkin (both in reality and as part of the composition). I tried fooling around in Photoshop with the slanting of the bricks using the distort and skew tools, and I applied Joe's crop suggestion. |

In the wood -- a fish, or even a snake's head? Looking toward the left. |

Very nice textures and reinforcing arcs. The only problem is the brown in the upper right side, which is a little distracting, but a great abstract image, which could hang on someone's wall as a conversation piece. |
