I don't think it goes back to the thirties, but I would guess that it was made in the early fifties. It came along with the family when we moved from Buffalo to south Florida. I actually can't recall how I ended up with it, but it's been in storage for at least thirty years, and was taken out of its storage box just for this shot. So, it saw the light of day for probably the first time in three decades! |

LOL -- shows how much I know about using a sewing machine ... this was strictly for setting up the shot. Come to think of it, I wouldn't know how to use it. I guess I thought that the front was much more interesting than the back. |

Yes this is the actual texture -- this machine is rugged enough to survive nuclear war! |

Judging by the windshield, this seems to have been a "gathering of eagles" meet up spot for many years! Since the steering wheel is the main focus perhaps it could be brightened up a bit to reveal more details and texture. I don't know if you could've done it but the wheel might have been cocked a bit to give more of an angle for the spokes. |

Or, is that what you meant when you referred to the 'white off the roof?' If so, you can select the building, invert the selection and use a soft, broad clone brush to cover the white. |

There does seem to be a faint glow around the upper part of the building. Not sure if that was in the original sky. |

Bravo, Joe! You did a fine job of "assembling" all of the different elements of the originals into a final image. One thing I'm not sure of: was the picture of the window with the wreath taken from a third, unseen here, original? Nice work with the various textures. I know perspective is involved here, but does the building base sag down somewhat? If you hold a straight edge up to the picture, it looks like there is a bit of a bulge along where it meets the side walk. Is the girl a family member? It might be an interesting experiment to set this same image up the next time you are in St Augustine and compare the two results. |

Could you have cloned out about the front third of the boat? There seems to be enough material to work with. |

Beautiful coloring without a doubt -- you really drew that out from the original! You chose the correct (vertical) orientation -- I just wish the structure was a little less centered. Still, a great job, and it certainly looks like fall is just around the corner. |

The car, with its rusty dark orange coloring, fits in really well with its surroundings, in terms of color tone and the fact that both car and setting have a desolate and forgotten feel about them. The texture suits the ground and car, but I'm not sure about the sky. You might try cropping off the left quarter of the image, thus getting rid of the bright cloud on the left and moving the car off center. Overall, an interesting image to look at. |

Original and creative idea, and the truck, in terms of composition, is well placed. Nice contrast between the old and the new -- the truck and the fresh layer of snow, and between the natural and the man-made. Overall good exposure, but I wonder if there is a slightly too strong blueish cast (as in the tree). My only complaint is that the white drift of snow at the right is distracting from the overall image, causing the eye to dwell there. Other than that, a great pic! |
