Chuck had it printed as a canvas piece and has it mounted on one of the walls in his home. |

Thanks for the kind words Al. I'm not sure how long it took in total, because I would keep coming back to it if I saw something that I thought needed correcting. And then correcting the correction -- I'm sure you know how that goes. I've always thought that there's no reason why you can't approach editing a photo in the same way you would work on a painting. Ansel Adams spent hours working on his images and he is quoted as saying that he didn't take photographs, he made them. I ended up with five files, each one progressing to my end goal. Maybe 3 hours in total? |

Sorry Marti -- my bad. I thought my explanation was getting a little long-winded, so I neglected to go into more detail. As it turns out, even though the clone tool was an important component, I wouldn't have attempted this without the black and white filter plug-ins from On1 Effects 8. There are three filters I go to a lot: chrome, roadie, and subtle selenium. As it was, the original really needed attention in terms of contrast and detail, and in this case the roadie filter worked best. |

The straight lines act as a border, as Marti points out, and they also add a three dimensional aspect to the composition in that the swirl part seems to sink into a valley, or recess. Great colors! |

Gracias, Señor Presidente! However, it did snow in Miami on January 19, 1977! |

This could be the setting for a science fiction move, where a lander has just touched down on a foreign body and has transmitted first images of the landscape. Lots of mystery, which fog often times portrays. Looks tranquil for the moment, but what is about to emerge? Back here on earth, the trees and the way they are set in the composition lend a Zen quality to the image. Nice picture. |

Very ethereal. Light, and of course super vibrant. The small central area may be, well, too centered. I'm going to break with Al and Marti and say that I like the original as well and I think it holds up on its own, except for the black bits along the bottom and top. It's odd, but the final image at first appears to be too symmetrical, but it's actually not when you study its details ... if that makes any sense. Still, it certainly grabs your attention! |

I like what you've done with this Marti. Poster edges is one of my favorite filters. Your image is very well composed and the sharp edge lines make this a very nice graphic piece of art. The cactus flower really stands out amongst the other bits of foliage; they contribute to framing the orange/yellow "center piece." Sorry, but I just can't seem to find anything wrong with this. Great job! |

Al, to achieve an effect like Marti's you don't necessarily need to use layers; you can just go into the filter selections and go to poster edges and work from there. You can do quite a bit of tweaking. |

A great mixture of reality and fantasy! To be sure, I've no first hand knowledge of LSD, but from what I've read or heard, this might well be a spot-on visual representation of an acid trip. The owl is coming straight for the viewer, emerging out of a very disorienting and frightening illusion. The tree branch "claws" are coming after you, too. Wonderful! |

Peggy -- very colorful and creative image! The central "star burst" is framed perfectly by the outer ring of yellow and orange, while the green is a great balance to the rest of the colors. And thanks for the instructions -- I for one was not aware of this technique. I have no idea if it could be done, but this would translate into a great piece of glass sculpture. You pulled this off very well! |
