Since we're exploring the Rorschach side of photography, I just noticed a horse's head as well. |

Kaylyn, did you try experimenting with conversion to black and white? There could also be some dramatic results there. |

Peggy -- nice capture and an interesting scene. However, in brightening the lower part of the picture you caused the upper part, and in particular the sky in the background to become overexposed. You can correct this by using a graduated filter in either photoshop or camera raw. This would bring the top back to correct exposure and leave the bottom as it is. To follow up on Joe's point, another approach would have been to lower the camera (bracketing the shots) and get more of the reflections, which might have added more interest. Of course, I don't know what the situation was like where you were doing the shooting, but it seems there may have been some room to capture more of the water and reflections. |

I think that's exactly how I would look if I was exposed for eons to the harsh weather that "he" must face (can you call a rock "he?"). Now that I think about it, that's kind of how I look sometimes first thing in the morning. Interesting and creative capture, but not real easy to spot. Slate blue and sand colors work well. You certainly have your artistic eye wide open and your imagination is working overtime! |

Great job on the sky replacement -- much better than in the original. One minor point -- there seems to be a slight ghostly lightness hugging the left side of the barn, beginning where the roof intersects the silo and moving along to the ground. The green foreground is vivid and beautifully done, and gives a solid anchor for the structure. The silo appears ever so slightly out of vertical, but perhaps this was the way it actually was. I even like the way the weather vane seems to be pointing to the barn .. I like this very much! |

Very well done with the color, contrast and sharpness. The shadowy area presents the turtles to best advantage. As Mike points out, you have the whole story here: water, a big log and lots of turtles sunning themselves seeming without a care in the world. I must, however, call you out on one thing: where is the social distancing and masks? |

Mike -- I like the complimentary pale blue-green and orange colors, and the textures give off a southwest feel. You did a nIce job of recovering the shadows from around the doorway. I wonder if the sunlit parts could be given a bit of a boost in contrast. It also does seem to be a little bit too centered. Having absolutely nothing to do with the composition -- does anyone see an elephant's foot in the lower right corner? |
