Thanks Isaac, and I'm certainly aware of your approach in your great shot at the Wailing Wall. |

As Mike states, there appears to be some mix up -- I don't see any of the things that you said you eliminated in the original. And the colors are pretty close in both images. I think the train makes this image -- it is so evocative of that area, where some of the coal trains can be over a mile long. Beautiful S curve, or maybe I should say curves if you think of the river as being reinforced by the train and tracks. Except for perhaps cropping a bit of the sky, you have done a really great job on this picture. To add a bit to Al's comment, you can see here the balance between man's presence and wild nature -- nature is always lurking nearby, waiting to grab back what has been wrested from it. |

Nice composition, Mike, with the rocks presenting a nice diagonal line. Am I reading the f stop setting correctly as f 18, or is it f1.8? At 1/400, did you use a tripod? If not, you showed a very steady hand! Maybe some flash fill would have brought out more detail in the "non exotic." Also, there is not much contributing to the picture in the upper left. |

Interesting effect Joe. It's as if you had a drone with a fisheye lens flying directly overhead. I'm glad you removed that wedge of empty light in the lower left hand part of original 2. Also cool is how the distortion seems to lift the viewer from being at shoulder level to hovering over the the men. Well done on this unique take! |

Nice to have you on board Al. You did a first class job of bringing out the horse's heads, but I think the background is still a bit too distracting do to brightness. Could you try cropping in from the top and the sides to focus in on the faces, and darken the back even more? As Joe says the red area (signs?) on the left takes away from the subjects. In the original image that part is much darker. |

Very nice job of bringing the colors out, and you pretty much have a rule of thirds going here. The tree branches in the upper left could remain as they are if you could find a similar clump to place on the upper right, which would act as a fine framing device. After that you could clone the upper branches down toward the tree tops. |

I think maybe just brightening the center area with a gradual fade to the surrounding areas would work. Also, removing the road might heighten the sense of mystery by eliminating any reference to civilization and adding to the feel of isolation. Nice job of removing the cars and street sign. I like how the shadow on the left may be menacing the shadow on the right. |
